Same-Sex Marriage - A Threat To Whom?
12-23-04 | Ernie1241

Posted on 12/23/2004 7:40:45 AM PST by Ernie.cal

I have read many messages which object to same-sex marriage but I am still waiting to learn what specific adverse consequences opponents of gay marriage anticipate to result from its legalization.

In other words, suppose same-sex marriage becomes law during 2005. By 2010 or 2015 what specific indisputable adverse consequences to society do opponents predict to occur?

With respect to those critics of same-sex marriage who refer to "God's law" and "procreation" --- do they believe that heterosexual couples who cannot have children, or who do not wish to have children, should also NOT be allowed to marry?

The essence of a free society is choice---including the option of choosing private behavior that does not cause harm to another person. The alternative is coercion, i.e. using the coercive (and punitive) power of government through laws, bureaucrats, and police to dictate what choices are permissible.

Do opponents of same-sex marriage propose that our society should begin identifying areas where choices involving human intimacy should be regulated by government entities and thus dilute our commitment to the values inherent in a free society?

(Buzzer goes off) Sorry. That is an incorrect response. Apparently you are not aware of the sexual habits of many African men. The many friends I went to college with that lived in Sud Afrika, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Zaire tell horror stories of growing up African, or watching Africans commit vial acts with friends, families, and strangers as if it were all natural.

The reason it has spread so rapidly among the heterosexual community is the practice of having sex with children and bisexuality among men. Well know facts about many backward Africans. One, they don't listen to western health officials but think that the visit magically wards off illness. Two, they have this delightful idea which says sex with a virgin will cure you of AIDS.

HOW DO YOU THINK THE CUBAN MILITARY CAME DOWN WITH AIDS AFTER THEIR ANGOLA FIASCO?

WHY DO YOU THINK THE HOMOSEXUAL COMMUNITY TOOK GAY SEX JUNKETS TO AFRICA, HAITI, AND BRAZIL?

Don't buy into this BS about hetero Africa with AIDS. It's a fable.

"Its not a matter of how it affects or hurts me."

Obviously it does.

" I do not want my children growing up in a society that says homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle."

Move.

"Its immoral and against the teachings of the bible."

Some people have never seen, or read the Bible. For some people a Chiltons repair manual for a 1974 Chevy pick-up truck carries more weight.

"But that does not make it right."

Who are you to determine what is right or wrong for other people?

oh yea,
Merry Christmas :)

You are so right about not wanting to undermine the foundation of our society. It comes down to that. I bet you anything that there are gay people out there who agree with you.

Many people are capable of being concerned with the greater good. It fact, this is a foundation of our society too. It's not just about "me, me, me." Sometimes it has to be about what's best for those beyond "me."

Why? This is a straw man argument...

In addition, I am at somewhat of a disadvantage. There is only one of me and 200+ critics responding!

That should give you a clue.

The thing about it is, perversion will never be accepted as normal. Get over it.

Eighth time:

Stop hiding from the polygamy issue. Why do you think your marriage definition must stop at any two persons? Why not three or five.

Stop hiding.

Eighth time on this issue as well:

You: GAY BROTHERS: How many gay brothers do you suppose there are in our country? If they ALL decided to marry, what adverse consequence do you anticipate occurring?

Me: So, you would permit gay brothers or sisters to marry. Thank you for being clear. Now, how about a father and son? Father and 18 year old daughter? Please state your reasons why or why not in each case.

Stop hiding.

My next question to you is:
WHY ARE YOU AFRAID TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS?

You brought up a point about perversion. I think the reason why we are having this conversation is because perversion is becoming the norm, even among so called normal married people. It is so easy to be weird these days, no wonder why people are so messed up and the divorce rate is so high. You have got to have standards. Whether you are married or not. People are so screwed up in their thinking.

You can thank Bill Clinton and Porm. Personally, it I had a problem, I would clean up my act just so I COULDN'T have something in common with Bill!

You are still refusing to answer the questions put to you. You don't have to reply to 200 of them--just Travis McGee's for instance.

You don't want to engage in debate--you're trolling for answers that justify YOUR position.

Why are you asking questions, and not answering them?

In a related story.

Some world health officials wanted to start a campaign agains obesity in women. Since many in africa are can not read, they decided on a bilboard/poster campaign.

The image was to be a comparison of two women. One was a healthy woman standing behind a truck which was in good condition. The other woman was a crying fat woman who truck had a broken tire because it was so overburdened with boxes and the woman.

After the officials applauded themselves for helping african women see the danger of obesity, word came back the african public was interpriting the message as the fat girl was richer and more desireable than the skinny poor girl with the empty truck.

tax dollars at work.

I really think the agenda for homosexuals is not so much the benefits (though they would like the benefits), but the coercing of society as a whole to approve of their sexual inclinations, thereby eventually increasing the practitioners of homosexuality. It will do that but it will also destroy marriage almost entirely. Any two people of whatever relationship will eventually be allowed to marry just for the benefits, whether sex is part of the deal or not. After all, the government has no right in the bedroom, so whether people who marry have sex or not is irrelevant. As time goes on, marriage will not be limited to "two". Once that happens, lawmakers will decide that marriage benefits are too expensive and do away with them. Marriage will be special to no one and then few will bother to marry. That's what homosexuals want.

Why just couples?

You didn't ask me.

I had 6 kids between 1957 and 1965.
I often wished my husband had a few more wives. :)

Once the consequences of private bedrooom behavior leave the bedroom then it is everyones concern and must be adressed.

Whether it is providing for children created in the bedroom or diseases transmitted in the bedroom, actions have consequences.

Something the homosexuals are desperatly trying to avoid in there quest to impose marriage by orgasm.

A free society would be one where the government does not promote homosexual activity, but is neutral about it, and allows members of society to retain their own moral and religious beliefs about this complex issue of homosexual activity, about which people have a right to hold differing opinions.

Do you think that a church could be forced to marry two people of different religions by the government if it conflicted with doctrine? What politician would dare try to enforce that law?
