One of the main reasons that John Kerry is not President right now is beacuse a lot of Catholics were disgusted for him. His share of the Catholic vote was disproportionately low for a Democrat.

"I actually like Jeb better than his brother, and would love to see this country finally have a true Catholic president."
The same man who wanted to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens? No thanks; we have a big enough 'Welcome' mat at our nation's borders as it is. Immigration has become a make-or-break issue for me, post-Sept 11th.

Just wondering: How many of the 911 hijackers entered the country illegally?

I still contend that a person should vote for the candidate that best represents their views and values, regardless of their religious affiliation (assuming the affiliation isn't in direct contention of their views and values).

Tin foil hat time for the evil genius again. LOL. A century after he is laid to rest, politcos will still be blaming unexpected misfortune on Karl Rove...

LOL!
The liberal media attack Hillary's likely 2006 Senate race opponent- and then blame it on Rove!
Delicious, reminds me of when they got leaks from Clinton's White House and blamed them on Starr.

Agreed, but Catholics are required to care when other people represent themselves as Catholic and then begin behaving in a fashion directly in contrast with Church teachings. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "PRO-CHOICE CATHOLIC."

Agreed, KC. Do the Dims really believe that Bush thinks that in four years the American people will want "more of the same"? They will want a change. Bush's job is to make sure that that "change" candidate has an "R" next to his or her name, can beat Hillary, and is not surnamed "Bush".
Jeb doesn't want the job. At least not now, imho. He shot his wad when he didn't beat Chiles in 1994 while brother George whupped up on Anne Richards.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Probably a Staussian play on the part of Jeb Bush. say "I won't run" to see who sticks their head out and have KR play them like a fiddle. Rudy is good but I don't think he is ready for prime time. JB on the other hand can be KR choice for the WH in 08. Watch W and KR set the trap for Hillary Clinton before 08.

Conservatives continue to feast on Rudy Giuliani's misery.
That maybe a correct statement..... But the rest is a pipe dream to think that Rove would do this deed to which some fall out comes to the President and one of his closest advisers in Gonzales.... If that's Rove's grand scheme then the President best rid the WH of him quickly.

I find it ludicrous that people want to consider Jeb for the job in 2008. He's qualified, its just that it would be hard to win and election with three people from the same family in such a short time.
To: presidio9
"...others believe Rove and Bush have one man in mind for the Oval Office: brother Jeb Bush. "They're saying, 'We own the party now,'" says one source, "and we're not going to give it away." I've seen absolutely NO EVIDENCE of such a mindset within Dubyuh's camp...this is pure conjecture, imho.

Open borders is a security risk. An ineffective INS is also a security risk. We must secure our borders and ports, or we will not survive the War on Terrorism.

The evil Karl Rove is at it again...we really need to keep an eye on him. :)
To: NJ_gent
Nope. Makes no sense at all. If you have money and a false identity (and if you can get yourself from the Mid East to Mexico, you do) why walk into this country when you can fly? If you are against open borders because you feel like your job is threatened, fine. But the idea that we need to go to the obscene expense of closing our borders for security purposes is insulting to the intelligence.

If Jeb doesn't want to run for President so be it. The job isn't for everyone. However, what I cannot see is the true believers of this party throwing him overboard because of his familial relationships. We don't have a dynasty in this country. The Bushes stand for election like everyone else. They win (like last month) and they lose (like 92). Jeb will do the same in 08...if he elects to run.
If he does run, I will be voting for him based on his record as governor of the 4th largest state in the country. Florida is a must win for Republicans, if wewant to hang on to our tenous electoral college majority.
Jeb is clearly the best candidate of a ho-hum field.
To: presidio9
But the idea of three Bush presidencies in 20 years is more than a bit creepy. Any more creepy than two Adameses or the umpteen Kennedys who run for everything from MA Senator to RI Congressman to MD Governor to Hyannis Dog Catcher.
It's an election. If Hillary is the dem, then family connections become irrelevant as a campaign issue. Jeb is hands down the best candidate.
To: presidio9
I have only seen Carl Rove once that I can recall. He looked like a chubby cheeked cherub. Could he be the evil genius that dims regard him as? Smart yes, but evil an conniving as they seem to think?
