A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

"I'll Be Home For Christmas"
I'll be home for Christmas; You can count on me. Please have snow and mistletoe And presents on the tree.
There may not be snow in Houston, but bet there are lots of happy faces there this Christmas, and I'm bettin' mistletoe won't even be needed. :)
Allegra, one of our own since February 25, 2001, has been in Iraq for almost a year and is home for her first R & R just in time for Christmas. We love bringing good news to the Finest about our troops and hope you'll join us today to give her a big, rousing, Welcome Home Surprise!
Thank you, Allegra, for your service to our country, and hope you get a chance to eat lots of Mexican food, drink plenty of cold beer, and get lots of lovin' from those kitties before you return to Baghdad next month. May God bless and keep you safe.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Louie gave me the "God Bless the Troops" graphic; in fact, he gave me several. I usually have a tough time making a decision which to use. :)

"Pitch black by 2:00 PM would make me all off kilter." Why, Darks --I'da thought you'd LOVE the dark..:))
Aquamarine, the paved roads are frozen over and snow covered from November until May, usually, and not visible.
There is a benefit in that, however, because the flow of vehicles and friction therefrom cause it to be smoother than the paved surface itself, and keep you cradled on the road.
I can attest to that from experience, one day when I was still living in Fairbanks (before getting base housing), I went downtown and to the main stoplight, where to get to the commissary at Ft. Wainwright (Army base right in town - our Eielson AFB was 30 miles south), I was to make a left turn.
There had been just enough traffic to make it slippery, though, and when I gently applied the brake to stop for the red light, my station wagon refused to slow down -- sailed right along with the grooves leading left -- with oncoming traffic!!
The Lord's amgels pushed me just fast enough through the intersection to avoid a major pileup..:))
I tell you, His angels had to work overtime to protect me up there --

I do.
But it's the "at what time it gets dark" that tunes the internal clock.

Hi there :)
Tonight I'm making a lemon-almond pound cake for the job Christmas party on Thursday. If I remember I'll post my recipe later, it's very delicious and fairly simple.
Next week I'll be on vacation, which of course means extra time to FReep! :)
