Congressional Oil for Food investigators are engaged in a racist attack on UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in a bid to cover-up the involvement of Republican oil men from Texas in the ballooning scandal, New Jersey congressmen and former head of the Congressional Black Caucus Donald Payne said Thursday.
"It's absolutely asinine to be calling for [Annan's] resignation," Rep. Payne told WWRL's Steve Malzberg and Karen Hunter. "I think it's actually, once again, racism - because there is no evidence to point to this dignified man who has served this world for so many decades to come under some political attack."
Payne said the UN Secretary General was being scapegoated to hide the role played by American companies in the scandal.
"U.S. oil companies were a part of it," he told WWRL. "I wouldn't be surprised if some oil men, who are connected, or are embedded within the Republican Party in general, did not know about it."
The former CBC chief suggested that probers were merely using Annan's son Kojo, who took some of the Oil for Food cash, to tarnish his father's image.
"I think it is absolutely shameful that persons in the U.S. government have accused Kofi Annan of having something to do with his grown son, who lives in Europe, because of some alleged relationship that he had with a Swiss bank," Payne complained.
The allegations got even more bizarre when Malzberg questioned Payne about his claim that Republican oil men from Texas were involved.
"The headquarters of the oil industry in this country happens to be in a place called Texas," the New Jersey Democrat explained. "If you start taking a look at the contributions - I'm talking about the $250,000 inaugural ball guys that are going to be having dinner with the president on [Jan.] 20th, on these nine inaugural balls - look at that list. [Then] take a look at those who are involved in [Oil for Food]."
Payne insisted that he wasn't accusing the White House of wrongdoing. "I'm just simply saying, follow the money," he told WWRL.

The UN has stood against the US in more than the Oil for Food Scandal. The European Socialist, the Muslims and everyone who is not an American ahs been going against the US. We ahve been footing most of the bill from office supplies to wars. Yet we are blamed and dnegrated for everything that is wrong.
That must mean the rest of the world is right.
Therefore we should step down from our position of leadership in the world and secure our borders,
allow the EU to take the leadership role and quietley take care of our own country in our own way.
We will need to rebuild ouf infrastructure ,modernize our factories and our education system. To do this we and to do it correctly we will need all of th emoney our country has, so we will not be able to provide the aid and help in the manner or the amounts that we have before.
It's time for the US to get out of the UN and the UN out of the US!!
