Congrats. You were spared the trauma of having to take DEQ2. It's definitely difficult, that's for sure. I had to take it when I was at Duke for my Engineering degree. It was not fun. Luckilly I had a PHD candidate grad student who was a phenominal teacher of math. I might not have made it, had I been stuck with someone else.

Well I hope you learned how to actually solve some of these differential equations. I only learned existence and uniqueness and hand to pick up the methods to solve them by myself. I hope you take partial, and you will realize very fast that your bag of tricks will evaporate very quickly. Learn how to program and solve these things numerically. My $0.02.

Wow, congratulations, that was fast! DEQ2 is just algebra; i.e., solving simultaneous DE equations. I never understood why they bothered teaching it as a separate subject, really, it's just algebra, perhaps a rehash of some stuff from DE1, but mostly it's just high school algebra. Now, PDE is something else entirely!

Congrats! Time for a brew!
DEQ is one class I REALLY wish I remembered. Very powerful stuff.

Congratulations!
I am probably among millions who took Math 3A and 3B and Physics 4A, got out with a B or C and had no clue as to understanding the concepts, nor managed to learn to use calculus in real-world applications.
A truckful of sand with a leak in the contaner just didn't do it for me.
Before I die, I still hope to accomplish it though. I'm envious.

you took calc 3 and DEQ in the same semester? You're a glutton for punishment. I found calc 3 the worse, since you wound up having to learn all those different integrals. Didn't take DEQ but did take ODE. It was very problem solving oriented which was a plus, but was still bizzaroland. The prof wasn't much help, only grade was for a 10 problem take home final. We ganged up on it, but it still took a whole weekend just to solve some of those problems.

At the risk of being a wet blanket... soon the sinking feeling that you'll never know enough mathematics will begin to increase... and never go away. :)

Congrats! What would be your advice to someone that is about to embark on the calculus and Diff E journey?
To: IYAAYAS
Congratulations. I took DEQ, and passed, but it was the course that convinced me that I never wanted to take another math course (statistics excepted) ever again! What made me feel better about it was reading later that Isaac Asimov had essentially the same reaction!
To: IYAAYAS
Cool! Now could you offer me some advice> What is the most important bit of knowledge for laying the foundation for Calculus. I have a 6 year old Math wizard and I am not certain what direction to take so math continues to be so much fun for him. He told me yesterday that if he could Marry Math- he would!
