Calculus(my update)

I made the above linked post more than a year ago which generated more than 100 replies. Which means I've been waiting (hoping) for more than a year to make this one. Well I finished! Calculus 1,2,3 and differential equations, including a discreet mathematics class over the summer for good measure. I just got my final grades for calc 3 and DEQ this morning, B and B. DEQ was by far the most difficult class I've ever taken, VERY interesting to me though, I wish I had the time to take DEQ2. This morning I feel like I've finaly won an epic struggle between me and math. I know I still have a lot of math in my future as an engineering major, but now I have the confidence and the ability. WOOHOO I'm so happy! To all who posted advice: Thank You! To any misguided student who comes to FR for math advice read the above linked post and follow the advice!

Cool! I camped that SOB for 8 hours straight, and all he dropped was his normal blue mage boots. What did you get?

Congrats. You were spared the trauma of having to take DEQ2. It's definitely difficult, that's for sure. I had to take it when I was at Duke for my Engineering degree. It was not fun. Luckilly I had a PHD candidate grad student who was a phenominal teacher of math. I might not have made it, had I been stuck with someone else.

Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Never drink & derive.

Well I hope you learned how to actually solve some of these differential equations. I only learned existence and uniqueness and hand to pick up the methods to solve them by myself. I hope you take partial, and you will realize very fast that your bag of tricks will evaporate very quickly. Learn how to program and solve these things numerically. My $0.02.

It makes it tough to be integrated also. But, being drunk is Taylor-made for an expansion of your gut.

" I camped that SOB for 8 hours straight, and all he dropped was his normal blue mage boots."

I hate that I think I understand what you are talking about. Do they STILL play MUDs and MUSHs in the computer labs? (Prolly just know them by different names. Heck, you guys prolly have *graphics*, don't you?)

Wow, congratulations, that was fast! DEQ2 is just algebra; i.e., solving simultaneous DE equations. I never understood why they bothered teaching it as a separate subject, really, it's just algebra, perhaps a rehash of some stuff from DE1, but mostly it's just high school algebra. Now, PDE is something else entirely!

Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Never drink & derive. Or integrate, for that matter.

Congrats! Time for a brew!

DEQ is one class I REALLY wish I remembered. Very powerful stuff.

Congratulations!
I am probably among millions who took Math 3A and 3B and Physics 4A, got out with a B or C and had no clue as to understanding the concepts, nor managed to learn to use calculus in real-world applications.
A truckful of sand with a leak in the contaner just didn't do it for me.

Before I die, I still hope to accomplish it though. I'm envious.
