In his resignation speech last week, Mr. Thompson said, "For the life of me, I cannot understand why the terrorists have not attacked our food supply because it is so easy to do,"
"Any terrorist madman wanting to contaminate our food supply just needs to click on over to www.hhhs.gov/foodcontaminationtips," Mr. Thompson said.

Good posting. I had the same reaction, like "duh"? Why state the obvious. Stupid remarks, IMHO.
I'm surprised his aides were able to wrest the tinfoil from Mr. Thompson's head when he went to announce his resignation.
A good guy but the wheels have come off his chariott......Must be an age event.....Sad!!!!!
It's SATIRE, people.
Thompson is an embarrassment. He's an egotist, and I think he just couldn't stand it that Powell's resignation was getting more ink so he had to throw in these comments to grab the spotlight.
And I know this is satire, but his original comments were so bizarre that they might have well have been satire.

BIOYA Elmo! BWAHAHAHAHA!
I will never forget turning to my wife on 9-11 as the horror unfolded and commenting...."now let's watch our government f**k this all up"........ the caving of the house on the "intellegence" bill this week should give you a good idea of just how tightly to tuck the kids in tonight. Your government is filled with only the "best and brightest"...... don't you feel good as you gaze at their faces? (the kids I mean)..... Shudder, folks, and make sure you visit the ammo shop tomorrow. Because the buck no longer stops "there".
