I thought so. If he had it would have created a huge firestorm. No, that was Dresden.

Did Clinton apologize to the Germans for that?
To: mainepatsfan
Remember that in April 1995 the 1996 election was still in the future, so Clinton could not afford to do something like apologize for the bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the election it might have been a different story.
To: Verginius Rufus
Bob Dole could have used an issue like that.
To: mainepatsfan
No. Dresden was literally, a firestorm. I don't think Clinton apologized for it. If I recall correctly, Queen Elizabeth did apologize.

or this one:
A US Marine was standing on the docks at Pearl Harbor when a Japanese tourist couple approached.
"Excuse me, could you tell me where the US Arizona is located?"
Without hesitating, the young Marine replied,
"It's right where you fucking left it!"

At Dresden I believe we used white phosphorus.
I've heard stories that you could see the glow of the flames for over a hundred miles at night.

My hat is OFF to your Dad - a real hero in my book.
Did you say he is still with us?
BTW: He helped win the war and save many other American lives. That's the kind of mindset we MUST have if we are to win the war against Islamic terrorism.

The 'real heros' are the ones who refuse to talk about it.
I got a feeling your Dad was one of them.

Awesome photo of your dad!!! When the bomb dropped on Hiroshima my father was on a troop ship on his way to invade Japan. It's the only war story he ever told me, and he was in WW2, Korea and 3 tours of Vietnam in the USMC. He said that they were zig zagging across the Pacific for 80 days, and that they knew that the invasion of the Japanese mainland was their destination. His exact words were "they dropped the bomb, the war was over, and that was alright with your father!" That's been my opinion ever since.
I have a Japanese rifle that he got as a souvenir of war, which I inherited from him when he passed away in 1993.
It's hard to tell in that photo of your dad, but is he wearing just a pair of underwear? It looks like you can see tan lines where the underwear would end? Sorry to ask such a silly question. :)

According to every book I've read and all documentaries I've viewed, if we didn't drop the A-Bomb, they would have dropped one on us within 6-10 months. Germans were helping prior to VE Day and some of their expertise was spirited away to Tokyo after Germany's surrender.
Also, the Japanese were working on the biological warfare, such as black plague, via airplanes and balloons courtesy of their evil experiments on the Manchurians.
The whole world should thank us every year for what we did, and what we prevented the Japs from doing.
