Proud to say that my congressman, John Culberson, voted against this.

Symbolism over substance. Our borders will remain wide open.

Substance died with our forefathers. Reagan succeeded in bringing it back for a brief time, but his successors have all been losers.

Here's hoping some literary giant can write a suitable eulogy for this country. Shh!t. I can't think of anyone living who is qualified to do the honors.

I sure agree with you. That attrition issue you mention, is so typical of the measures lofted by this administration. New agents at official border checkpoints sound wonderful, until you realize that 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the problem is the illegals that walk over the border between those checkpoints. More of the same, only this little bill will likely cost us more hundreds of billions for nuttin!

HOGS READY!
TROFTS READY!
AND.......FEED!

The only thing that is going to be made safer from this bill is taxpayer supplied pork. Oh and maybe V. Fox's ambitions.

Oh look, the Buchananites have another thread in which to whine. I wonder if we should bring them some cheese?

Oh, look, I see that you've dropped by to whine on yet another thread. Why don't you have a big chunk of cheese with your whine.

This is a big joke. I was down on the Texas/Mexico border recently and chatted with a few people involved in handling various leveles of security. Not just fed agencies but military too.

Their biggest fear is that the IslamoNazis will smuggle MANPADS over the border and start shooting down commercial airplanes. A very very easy thing to do. And really impossible to stop. Imagine when a commercial airliner is coming into an airport or going out. The kill zone is basically 40 miles long. A MANPAD can be thrown into the trunk of a small car and assembled in less than a minute. Shot in less than 20 seconds and the shooter is gone way before it hits the target. (What do you think happened to flight 880?).

The feds are making all this noise about retrofitting airliners with "countermeasures" against these devices. Why? They won't work against the new equipment. Like this stupid bill we are talking about spending billions on such countermeasures is just another feel-good gov't make work project.

Oh, and another thing. At some point we won't be looking for some funny talking middle easterner doing bad things to Americans. If they have not done so already the IslamoNazis will hook up with the Mexican gangs and they will be the ones doing the terror work. The Mexican Mafia and other such gangs have countrywide networks of people that will do anything for money. And the IslamoNazis have plenty of money to spend. Won't it be interesting when the "bad guys" are American Hispanics or Illegal Mexicans?

Judging by the inactions of our elected representatives either they are idiots (many are) or they have simply looked at the math and decided that whatever loses they expect from future attacks are acceptable. I think it's a combination of both. So, this crap of a law is nothing more than Congress doing what it always has in modern history. It has passed a law which really isn't needed for anything more than political public relations. I bet, as usual, none of the fools read the law itself. But I did. Did you?

Congress and George Bush could all go home for a couple of years and I'd wager with anyone here it would make no difference regarding the security of these United States. In fact, if they did I doubt it would make much difference period. Except to those that live off the gov't.

FWIW: My rep vote Nay. That makes me happy. Too bad this bill wasn't stopped and re-examined. Instead of getting things right, everyone had their political shorts in a knot and wanted immediate passage. Here's hoping for some decent immigration reforms.

"May God hold the people who are resposible for passing this bill, accountable when the next act of terrorism occurs."

Last night Jim Sensenbrenner was asked why the Senate and White House would not even consider any of the border/immigration provisions...

"Because they were unwilling to stand up to the illegal alien lobby".

With the big money behind that movement including MALDEF, that is George Soros, The Ford Foundation, etc. find at:

I haven't had much time to research this (apparently most Congressmen didn't either). Is it a BAD thing, or just FLUFF that really doesn't mean much? What's the jist of it? I know there isn't much (or any) border security in it, but at least Bush said yesterday he's for improving that. Tancredo says he will make sure W keeps his word, so that's at least a smidgen of good news on that front.

The smart Republican who wants to run for President in 2008 will do exactly this:

Non denounce the President, or his party, per se (lest he get ousted by the Big Boys of the GOP) but subtly start showing genuine support and plans for true border security and immigration reform.

Her Heinous Hillary is already doing this, so we better step to the plate.

Tancredo is often mentioned, but he's just a Congressman and is basically an unknown. Maybe pair him up with a good Governor like Mark Sanford??

Who the Hell do they think they're fooling!

Oh they're fooling alot of people...the average Joe American, disinterested and removed from politics will see the 30 second sound-bite on the 10 o'clock news and think to him or herself "Cool...the government is taking more steps to protect us...Great." We can all thank the liberal public education system along with the traitorous MSM for that.

(shaking head)
