I'd bet money they rolled over on the immigration provisions.

If they did they're nothing but gutless cowards who care nothing about our security.

Fricking Duncan Hunter sold us out on immigration, the bill contains NONE of the House immigration reform provisions, and Sensenbrenners staff who handles immigration says the White House has refused to even talk to them. I hope to God Hunter's constituents remember his sellout next election.

I am confused as to why immigrantion is a factor in the bill other than intelligence gathering.

It seems to me that legal and illegal immigrantion is the responsibility of Homeland Security Department. They're the one who should fix the problem.

The Intelligence Bill reorganizes how we gather the information and interpret it in a more effective way.

More details here:

Deal reached on intelligence bill

A House Democratic source gave CNN a copy of the draft that Hunter agreed on. The source indicated the language was intentionally ambiguous and made no mention of such specifics as satellites or troops.

Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner had been pushing to have tough immigration provisions included in this legislation, but Republicans and Democrats think they can deal with his concerns in a separate vote in the next session.

If Bush got his way, there won't be a word about immigration in this legislation.

Hope you people who voted for Bush are happy...

To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. Divide and conquer ruled the day today. Rep. Hunter cut and ran as far as I am concerned. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt concerning the chain of command structure, how are we safer when 1 million illegals enter this country every year? It must be magic that the terrorists don't see this as a glaring hole in our national security.

Last American Czar didn't stop the drugs.

Question:
With 15 different intelligence agencies, why could none of them stop the 9-11 plot?

Answer:
Oh yeah! They needed an Intelligence Czar.

Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Intelligence Organizations: –each collects and processes intelligence relevant to their particular Service needs.

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) - provides accurate, comprehensive, and timely foreign intelligence on national security topics to national policy and decision makers.

Coast Guard Intelligence – deals with information related to US maritime borders and Homeland Security.

Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) - provides timely and objective military intelligence to warfighters, policymakers, and force planners.

Department of Energy – performs analyses of foreign nuclear weapons, nuclear non-proliferation, and energy security-related intelligence issues in support of US national security policies, programs, and objectives.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) - prevents terrorist attacks within the United States, reduces America's vulnerability to terrorism, and minimizes the damage and recovers from attacks that do occur.

Department of State – deals with information affecting US foreign policy.

Department of Treasury – collects and processes information that may affect US fiscal and monetary policy.

Federal Bureau of Investigation – deals with counterespionage and data about international criminal cases.

National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) – provides timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security.

National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) - coordinates collection and analysis of information from airplane and satellite reconnaissance by the military services and the CIA.

National Security Agency (NSA) - collects and processes foreign signals intelligence information for our Nation's leaders and warfighters, and protects critical US information security systems from compromise.

All the responsibilities of the CIA, DIA, NSA, NRO, and NGA are concerned with intelligence. Therefore each of these organizations in its entirety is considered to be a member of the Intelligence Community.

This is OK. Let this bill proceed, we'll just rattle it around a bit until we can fix things in the next congress. A congress which we have more power in anyway.

Be patient my children, the next congress is ours and the executive branch. We have four more years to fix many things and we will, because we the People are going to press them like there is no tomorrow.

This is Dubya mis-spending his "political capital". I hope he is more careful in his future spending, or a lot of hard work has been for naught.

I often wonder what good is Bush.

Bush has certainly protected our soil and our oil supplies from radical Islam but he has, at the same time, openly assisted Mexico in the destruction of state government solvency and standards of living in the southwest.

It is high time that conservatives understood the peril that Bush represents as he fosters illegal immigration. I can understand his willingness to screw California but I can't forgive him as he damages the lives of conservatives who still reside in the state.

The 911 Commission was supposed to look into how 911 happened and why. The Chairman then stated at the very beginning that they were NOT going to "asign blame".

Say what??????????

The Commission was not formed to dictate military and national security organization.

Nor were sreaming widows of 911 supposed to dictate how we structure our national security.

It is outrageous that Bush is accepting the Commission's report.

To: Pyro7480; All

I don't know the whole story on this bill, but I know this:

1) I like Bush but do not trust him on immigration. He's a complete rollover for Fox, and I hate it.

2) That we came this close is a positive if you just look at the present. Remember, nothing has changed! It's just we came CLOSER this time to getting what we want. Depression hurts our turnout to get the GOP back on our side. What we MUST do is elect MORE congressmen that vote the way we want--you have to get active locally if you want to really stop the flood. Only by putting MORE Sensenbrenners into Congress will we get what we want. Do not be discouraged!
