I'd bet money they rolled over on the immigration provisions.
If they did they're nothing but gutless cowards who care nothing about our security.

I hate saying it, but it's a sad fact that most in-office Republicans are just as much politicians as anyone else.

The other issue was "chain of command" for the spy satellites. As written, the military would have had to beg the civilians to make a pass.
Just what we need, some political hack in charge of our "assets" in space.

What choice did they have but to roll over?
The Dems/left screaming at them is one thing, but when Bush urged the bill be passed today, these guys fighting for immigration reform were basically left on an island. I can't say I'd blame them if they did cave.
Unfortunately, survival within the power structure plays a role, no matter how altruistic and correct the contrary argument being advance may be.

You inarguably imply that President Bush is nothing but a gutless coward who cares nothing about our security. Or did I miss something? (sarcasm on)

The immigration issue needs to be looked at, but in another bill, not attached as a rider to this one.

Interesting isn't it - that they are trying yet another excuse to federalize the drivers license - something they know beyond a doubt after so many attempts to get it past America's scrutiny, just won't fly.. while at the same time they look for any excuse they can grasp to get away from dealing fully with immigration. My bet is we'll get told they delt with it and their version of dealing with it boils down to a cave in.
