I'd bet money they rolled over on the immigration provisions.
If they did they're nothing but gutless cowards who care nothing about our security.

If Sensenbrenner is still against it, they didn't addres the illegal immigration issue in the bill.

Fricking Duncan Hunter sold us out on immigration, the bill contains NONE of the House immigration reform provisions, and Sensenbrenners staff who handles immigration says the White House has refused to even talk to them. I hope to God Hunter's constituents remember his sellout next election.
To: Pyro7480
I am confused as to why immigrantion is a factor in the bill other than intelligence gathering.
It seems to me that legal and illegal immigrantion is the responsibility of Homeland Security Department. They're the one who should fix the problem.
The Intelligence Bill reorganizes how we gather the information and interpret it in a more effective way.

The Hunter issue was not immigration, but control of the Pentagon of resources vital to our War Fighters.....
Stay informed....

I KNOW that's his issue, it doesn't mean he didn't sell us out. Without the immigration reform provisions, it's like having security cameras around your house but leaving the door open. He had promised Sensenbrenner he wouldn't vote for the bill or support it unless the provisions were in there. Hutner let the White House "divide and conquer", now we have a bill that is completely useless (the only intel reform provisions I've seen are rearranging government org charts -- the terrorists got in here because of our broken immigration system and NOBODY seems to want to fix it!)
To: Sen Jack S. Fogbound
How about because a terrorist could come here illegally and get a drivers license which he would then use to open a bank account, get airplane tickets etc.
If you haven't opened a bank account lately I can tell you that as a result of the patriot act you are required to show proof of identity and I used my drivers license.

You're right its not perfect. But part of the flaws in this bill were fixed. As for the rest, we'll live to fight another day. Jim Sensenbrenner won't give up and neither will we. We'll be back in January to revisit the drivers' licenses and secure borders issues. They ain't going to go away.

More details here:
Deal reached on intelligence bill
A House Democratic source gave CNN a copy of the draft that Hunter agreed on. The source indicated the language was intentionally ambiguous and made no mention of such specifics as satellites or troops.
Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner had been pushing to have tough immigration provisions included in this legislation, but Republicans and Democrats think they can deal with his concerns in a separate vote in the next session.

I hate saying it, but it's a sad fact that most in-office Republicans are just as much politicians as anyone else.
