"We know that the US does Billions of dollars worth of business with Canada (not to mention getting oil from them) so he isn't going to rock that boat, so how could he be hard core on immigration. Not excusing him necessarily, but just food for thought!!"

The Canadians that come here do it legally.

It's the Mexicans, Central & South Americans, Orientals, and Middle Easterners that are streaming across our southern border, it needs to be slammed shut and then go to work on getting rid of the illegals that are already here.

Maybe instead of "mispending capital", he is accruing more capital by capitulating on these items. That could also be the case, right?

You bring up a valid point concerning Rep. Hunter's son who has done two tours in Iraq. He thinks we need the clear chain of command for our military intelligence matters when it comes to satellites. It's the reason the Representative has pushed so hard for it after talking with his son, and I'm grateful to Rep. Hunter for helping to protect the military and his son, but what about our sons and daughters here at home? We have very porous borders, and you can bet the terrorists know this fact. The terrorists had 63 valid drivers licenses they used to evade detection. Without the drivers license provision we are as vulnerable as ever here at home. Does anyone in Congress care besides a few like Sensenbrenner? How many terrorists are part of the million people who come here illegally each year?

I often wonder what good is Bush.

Bush has certainly protected our soil and our oil supplies from radical Islam but he has, at the same time, openly assisted Mexico in the destruction of state government solvency and standards of living in the southwest.

It is high time that conservatives understood the peril that Bush represents as he fosters illegal immigration. I can understand his willingness to screw California but I can't forgive him as he damages the lives of conservatives who still reside in the state.

"The border flow needs to be slowed down to a trickle.... "

That has nothing to do with the intelligence bill.

Leftists want everything yesterday. Be reasonable and realize that we have time and we, the people, have the power. Don't get this PEST thing your self. Logic follows a path, in politics that path runs way out of a straight line. Straighten the line by involvement don't just sit down by the side of the path and sulk, it's counter productive.

The 911 Commission was supposed to look into how 911 happened and why. The Chairman then stated at the very beginning that they were NOT going to "asign blame".

Say what??????????

The Commission was not formed to dictate military and national security organization.

Nor were sreaming widows of 911 supposed to dictate how we structure our national security.

It is outrageous that Bush is accepting the Commission's report.

Oh, my goodness, you act like the borders have been controlled perfectly for all these years, and then when Bush was elected in 2000, he went down and opened a gate and said "ya'll come on in!!"

You sound like dems that want to blame Bush for highways that are worn down, schools that are old, and everything else that happened waaaaaaaaaay before he was elected.

Granted, he hasn't actively shut down the borders and I have posted some speculation on my part as to why, but you cannot blame him for the illegal immigration problem completely---what the hell was Clinton doing for 8 years?

Besides, there have been changes re: terrorist, there are drones and more border guards, but like I said Bush didnt' create the problem so I think your hyperbole is missplaced.

Shock and Awe.....CNN actually was even handed about the different 9/11 family positions on the bill. Giving neither side preferential deference.

A far cry from the rest of the media giving the wicked widows ALL the deference.

Nothing like being defeatist and getting hyperbolic.

True. Defeatism and hyperbole make it hard to even debate this issue.

I voted for Bush and I'm happy. The whole issue of immigration needs to be dealt with separately.

You are right regarding the difference--I didn't completely think that through well enough--

One question, Orientals? What orientals are coming through Mexico?

Did you hear about the people in Arizona who took immigration matters into their OWN hands. How about trying that in California and stop your whining.

And, in the new congress, with a larger majority, it will be a little easier to pass immigration reform, without having to rely on the squishy RINO's
