The speed limit on Briley is 55?
I didn't know that...;-)

Some of us remember before Briley was built, and we had to take the ferry at McGavock. That was considerably slower than 55.

Only on the 200 feet that isn't under construction past Opry Mills.

There's no reason to force drivers in the straight, open-ended highways of the Southwest to do 55. Even on the NYS Thruway that's a snail's pace. Sixty-five seems reasonable to me, though on some of those roads 70 or 75 appears slow at times.

But the Ferry ramp on the East Nashville side used to be a great place to park.
Or so I've been told.

I refuse to pay for Pravda on the Cumberland. I'll read it if somebody else bought it or it was stolen.

''Now that the speed limit is 65 and 70, people are now going 70, 75 and 80 miles per hour,'' Gillian said. ''Speed is still a major killer on our highways.
You can change the speed law, but you can't change the law of physics. When you are traveling those speeds, your chances of survival are nil.'' That has to be one of the stupidest statements I've ever seen. First off this "expert" doesn't even know that the limit on western Interstates is 75MPH. I travel at 80 much of the time and I've survived quite well..... doofy woman.
Why stop a 55? Make it 50! 45! 40!
I'd like to see this idiot drive from Iowa to Los Angeles and then tell me how wonderful the 55 MPH speed limit is. Ever driven on I-80 through Wyoming? I-15 from Salt Lake to Las Vegas? The biggest problem on those drives is fatigue, not speed.
The biggest killer on our highways is incomptence.

Posted speed limit on some rural west Texas TWO-lane highways is 75 mph day/65 mph night. Gas prices now down to $1.699 unleaded regular.

Just ban cars and the problems solved. Wait they are trying that....
This woman who got this 55 ban lifted should be made a saint I tell ya.
