Five days before 9/11, Charles Vincent bought his first Koran. Six weeks later, while smoke was still pouring from the remains of the World Trade Center, he formally converted to Islam in the mosque attached to the Islamic Cultural Center on 96th Street and Third Avenue in New York City. A blonde, blue-eyed 29-year-old from Torrance, California, he readily admits that he chose an unlikely moment to fall in love with the world's most newsworthy religion. But in the three years since, his devotion to Islam has only deepened. Like a growing number of white Americans and Europeans, he has discovered that Islam is not just the religion of those "other" people.

Most of the subjects appear to be mentally ill.
It appears to be a prerequisite for joining TROP.
Wait a few years or months when the novelty wears off and he tries to recant. Then, he'd better move and change his name.
And then there was Jim Jones, and then there was David Koresh, and then there have been other assorted loons that are held up as trophies by the cults they adopted and many died from following them.

I think you're right. I wonder how many converts to Islam "backslide" and if they fully realized the consequences before their conversion?
I have a few books on Islam bought way before 9/11 just out of curiosity. None of them make me want to become a Muslim. As for the Koran, as a result of reading these books I bought a copy. Perhaps I'm one of those stupid Republicans, but I found it unreadable. I am amazed that anyone could be converted by reading it that my only thought is that they refuse to admit they can't understand it and think it makes them look smart to have other people think they do.
they sound like a bunch of jingoists.
this isnt a religion, but a arabization of other cultures..
why does someone have to dress-up to know god?
its more of a fashion statement
They're not converting, they're recruiting. It's a damed cult.
I read a book on social psych a while ago. The book explained that the usual method for being a cult leaders is to say a bunch of baloney that doesn't make any sense and just serves to confuse people. At the end you "summarize" it for your followers by telling them that it means they have to do something you want them to do.
Oh no...You misunderstand...This isn't so much a lifestyle as it is a predilection...(They think they're born that way)...

All you need to learn about the reality of Islam and the toons that follw it can be found here.
Yeah, he's doing really great. Driving a cab in New York city, praying in Mosques. I bet he gets a lot of dates--not!
What strange questions. I cannot imagine freely wanting to live this way.
Um, that's an "interesting" way of putting it.
Christian believers see Islam for what it is...demonic.
Islam is either demonic or Satanic...
If you are not a believer, you are probably leaning toward the democratic position...but this is a religious battle.
To say otherwise is like saying that escaping a shark attack is like avoiding a fish.
Guys,
There are always sicko's when you have a country of 300+ million people. Don't worry about him - he was probably a middle child and didn't get enough attention as a kid. Now he join Islam to make a 'statement' to his parents.
But the thing we all have to watch for are people like him infiltrating our society, to support their masters in the Middle East. Keep your eyes open for these people, figure out where they live, and, after they strike, call the FBI to have them talked to.
Dressed as he is in an Islamic-style tunic and a white kufi, or cap, with an untrimmed ginger beard
I find it curious that whenever a white person adopts Islam beit John Walker Lind, Cat Stevens, or whoever they feel it necessary to adopt the whole tragitional islamic garb while more and more Arab Muslims are wearing Levis, Nikes and Tommy Hilfiger.
I think you have to be mentally ill or some type of sad outcast to convert. Or a prison convict.
tragitional=traditional. Fat fingers. Darn, JimRob really needs a spell checker on this thing!
