A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

It was a really good thing.
Even factoring in your Thelma-esque and Louise-like terror rampage throughout the county.
You ladies can always be counted on to conduct your razing, pillaging and burning with typical panache!
Best always.

"You ladies can always be counted on to conduct your razing, pillaging and burning with typical panache!" Ah, but you know 'The Real Us' too well!
LOL
If we'd known how much fun life can be at this end,
I declare Nan and I would have gotten here sooner..:))

Oh Sistah, by the time you posted this morning I was already down the road toward Huntington. Had one of those "must attend" Christmas dinners. Then had to run out to my church (9 miles) and make 20 copies of our Christmas cantada. Ran out of paper before I finished. Now have to go early in the morning and finish them before church. Practice right after church and we must have programs.
Yes, we do seem to think almost the same thoughts at the same time. It's almost scary sometimes. I attribute it to our having grown up in the South and having "travel/moving" experiences throughout life. Of course it could be just because we are "Sistahs of the Spirit."
In a little bit I'm off again to one of Jack's churches for another dinner. Do you think I will keep the weight off through Christmas? NOT.

Dolly, would you believe that I didn't even have a cake? No birthday dinner either. Hubby tried, but I told him I would be too tired after painting all day. I was. But I was happy to get the room painted and almost put back. I hope to get things back in order Monday. How did the kayaking go?

Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Job 40:2
Bible In One Year: Daniel 1-2; 1 John 4
Just before Christmas 2003, Lydia came home from work to the sight of flames shooting out of her house. She was devastated by more than the loss of her homeseven of her family members died in the flames. When news about the tragedy spread that morning, a deacon from her church rushed to comfort her. She had some deep questions for him, but he had no answers.
Lydia could relate to Job's story. He lost all 10 of his children (Job 1:18-19), yet he continued to worship God (v.21). Then his health was affected, and his wife urged him to curse God and die (2:9). Job's friends thought they had the answerhe must have sinned and deserved his troubles.
Job complained bitterly to the Lord and pleaded for an explanation and relief, but God didn't give him any answers. He didn't even tell him about Satan's request to test him (1:6-12; 2:1-6). Instead, He reminded Job that He was the all-wise God and that Job was not. Job was humbled, and he repented for having questioned God's authority (42:1-6).
This side of heaven, we may not find answers for our desperate questions of "Why did this happen?" and "Why me?" But we can rest in the truth that God is in control and that He loves us. Anne Cetas
Though darker, rougher, grows the way
And cares press harder day by day,
With patience in His love I'll rest,
And whisper that He knoweth best. Pentecost
God does not have to answer our questions, but He will always keep His promises.

God does not have to answer our questions, but He will always keep His promises.I think many times people tend to forget that sometimes God's answer is NO. Just because we don't get something we wanted doesn't mean God didn't answer.

Hi Nan. Looks like I missed your birthday/paint party along with all the fun. Have been busy working on a Post for the 15th, unlike Billie who can make up a beautiful Post in one day it takes me weeks!
Happy Belated Birthday (((Nan)))!

Hope Billie is having a great time in the Big D with her friends, shopping, eating, yakking, etc. She deserves a weekend off.
Also need to point out that it was our talented Billie who put the T.G.I.F. post together for me. It's entirely her creation, she sent me the code, including the welcome graphic. All I did was paste it in and clicked "post". Unfortunately, out of habit, I typed in my screen name and forgot to put her name on the post. Most of you know Billie's creations when you see them, but I just wanted to mention this oversight. I have been feeling bad all weekend about not giving her credit.
Wishing you all a blessed Sunday.
To: WVNan
Wish I could have stayed around on your birthday to celebrate with you. I see you spent your birthday painting.
Hope you had a Fine birthday and that you know how much you are loved around here.
Here's a belated ((((((((((birthday HUG))))))))))) for you. Have a beautiful Sunday!
To: WVNan; LadyX
Also, in case your sweet sistah, Maggie, didn't fess up, it was she who let the cat out of bag and sent out the heads up about your special day.
I knew I would not have a chance for the rest of the day to post Nan's birthday graphic, so I had to post it early or not at all. My apologies, ladyx, you should have been the one to yell "surprise" and kick off Nan's birthday party. :-(
To: Mama_Bear; All
Good morning, Mama_Bear, everyone. I haven't posted all week because everyone was so happy. WVNan had a birthday, Billie was visiting in Dallas, and I just didn't want to rain on anyone's parade.
But to tell the truth, this is the happiest time for me now when I read this thread. As most of you know, my sister had back surgery in 2003 and again this year. She has been sick and in the hospital now on and off for 3 weeks. I called her daughter Monday night and told her that as next of kin, she needed to see about her mom. She got a substitute teacher for the rest of the week and came armed to get results this time.
After lots of testing, X-Rays, blood work, etc., they have determined that she has pockets of fluid on her back near where the incision for back surgery is. Now they are in the process of talking to the neurosurgeon and get her back here (Dallas) to do surgery to drain the fluid.
I know this is a long story, it's been a long 3 weeks for me. Added to this, my brother's stepson committed suicide on Thanksgiving day. I'm asking prayers for my family as we deal with the loss of the boy and for my sister to get well. Thanks for letting me sound off. You are the greatest. ((( All )))
