A former American University chemist yesterday reported that he and a Virginia entrepreneur had created a safe, pollution-reducing and mileage-boosting replacement for harmful gasoline additives.

In a well-received paper presented at the annual American Chemical Society meeting that ended here yesterday, Paul Waters explained he had created a polymer additive for gasoline called polyisobutylene.

1) Welcome, hit and run.

2) What was it? BHTL or some other alphabet soup chemical additive that my friends in the Federal Gub'mint insisted was good for me, that we now find out is poisoning the soil? Let me take this miracle with a doase of salt.

How is Bush keeping it a secret? Did he imprison the scientist and steal all the technical documents?

...and for that matter, why doesn't the link to this supposed article go anywhere? Does this original article on the WP actually exist, or are you just posting a bad Xerox you found tacked up in the student lounge?

There is something which increases fuel mileage by more than 20%.

It's called diesel technology.

...the new agent reduces harmful auto emissions by 70 percent while increasing engine power 10 percent and gas mileage at least 20 percent

so this means we can just forget about all that Kyoto Treaty nonsense - right?

I use this stuff, plus the oil additive that save me 30%, the spark plugs that save me 45% and the fancy air cleaner that saves me another 15%. It's a pretty good deal but just a pain in the a$$ having to stop and drain all that extra gas from my gas tank every few miles.

Ummm... polyisobutylene has been around for a while.

It's also called butyl rubber.

Polyisobutylene?

Pure BS. Everyone who's been paying attention knows it's Dihydrogen Monoxide.
