BOSTON (AP) The president of the Washington-based Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay and lesbian civil rights organization, announced her resignation Tuesday, citing "a difference in management philosophy" with her board.
Former Massachusetts state senator Cheryl Jacques headed the group less than a year. She said she'd achieved her goals.
"My priorities were to defeat the Federal Marriage Amendment, expand the organization's membership and fund-raising capacity, increase our diversity and maintain a strong voice in the media," she said in a statement.
Jacques was selected last November after a 10-month search. She left her legislative seat Jan. 4. Organization officials praised her leadership.
"Cheryl has achieved a great deal as HRC president," said board co-chair Gwen Baba. "We will miss her leadership and professionalism, but we understand her desire to move on to other challenges."
Board co-chair Michael Berman and Hilary Rosen will head the organization in the interim. The group holds its annual meeting next month.
The girls have dealt with another horrible Rodent Event--Puck, who has always been a good father, cannibalized his entire litter of babies...and they weren't pinkies, either. They had their eyes open and were covered with fur, and crawled around. At first we thought they must have squeezed through the bars of their cage, and then Mandy found a little furry leg and tail.
The girls were so upset.
Then, the next day we heard Pixie, his mate, screaming, and he had bitten off her tail. He's gone mad.
He is now isolated in a cage of his own, and we all feel very sad. I don't know what we could have done to prevent this horrifying event. I do know we are searching for a good home for him. He is a fine little pet to hold and play with, but will never be safe in a gerbil community again.
He is a serial killer.
Just an excerpt. Read the full story here.
Not passing judgment or anything, just thought you might like to know.
I know why the caged gerbil screams...
Does Cheryl wear a Jacques strap?!
Success?
HRC invested all its efforts to block the Colorado Marriage Amendment. They still lost with 56% voting to protect marriage.
President Bush has committed to continue pushing the FMA. The only accomplishiment is exposing those who are the enemies of marriage.
It seems since HRC chanaged legal strategies in Colorado from demanding marraige to demanding civil unions which are the functional equivalent of marriage, they are moving to be under the radar of the public. The real question is whether this will mean more agressive homosexuals or more stealth efforts.

Ha Ha Ha...
Thanks...
She's a tough one, that's for sure. Story is she used to come to organizational meetings and tell everyone of the girls that she could lick all of 'em.
PS Are you from/living in Chicago? I see you're relatively new around these parts.
The "partner" is kinda cute, but Cheryl looks like a guy I remember playing linebacker for the Dolphins.
Started hanging around right about the beginnings of Rathergate.
Lived in Chicago for 40 years (with 4 years in West Germany for the US Army). Now out in Plainfield.
When I'm not hanging here, this is what I do to keep me busy.

She is a closet heterosexual about to be outed.
One of my best friends lives in Plainfield. Her daughter will most likely graduate at the top of her Plainfield High graduating class next spring :-).
I grew up in central (small town) Illinois and moved up to the burbs in the mid 1980's. My husband grew up in Wilmette, and we're actually living closer to where his family lived when he was born than when we first got married!
I believe her brother who also happened to work for the state was busted at a rest stop....but again no big deal in the Gay State.
