The three people accused of vandalizing North Carolinas GOP headquarters have reconsidered their decision to represent themselves.
Melissa Brown, David Hensley and Vanessa Zuloaga all appeared in court Monday. The three are charged with causing $5,000 worth of damage to the building on November 5.
In an earlier court appearance, Zuloaga waived her right to council but Monday morning, all three requested court appointed attorneys.
A group of supporters also showed up at the courthouse.
Supporter James Robertson said, "This is the equivalent of what goes on in a drunken Friday night at most frat houses, but because they are anti war slogans and anarchist slogans, there's an extreme amount of political attention being focused to this." Their supporters are also giving the suspects financial help.
They've raised more than $15,000 in bail money to get the three released.
All three have waived their right to a probable cause hearing.
The prosecutor has asked that the case go before the grand jury next month.

They need a conviction for something at least to show that this isnt appropriate.

What a Bulls**t headline. Makes it sound like the vandals are members of the GOP, rather than the reality that the vandals targeted the GOP... I hate the MSM...

Please note misleading title (that's what News14 used & I didn't change it).
These three were not Republicans, of course, they vandalized the GOP HQ.

I want to see a full prosection of these hate-America leftists, but knowing the GOP, they will let these "misguided" youths go free.

Let's face as is the case with most "protesters" the Judge will probably drop the charges. This may be different since there was property damage but I won't hold my breath.

LOL! Only leftist vandals and arsonists have "supporters." Their violence and destruction is so well-intentioned.

Did they start a fire? That is a big-time felony that goes well beyond the vandalism charge. Fires kill people. If that is the charge, they should do some serious hard time and not be let off with fines and restitution.

Looks like Melissa spent a little too much time at the frat house prior to her photo.

I agree absolutely that it is misleading, but I think it is mainly out of plain stupidity. These are just local yokel TV people, who don't even know how to spell the word "counsel."

And the GOP needs to keep a civil suit simmering on the
back burner.

Haha...When I first saw the title I thought some dopey "GOP kids" had defaced Rat property and I was fully prepared to denounce them for doing so.
