Will you spend more on Christmas/Holiday gifts this year than last year? I have seen so many polls on websites asking a very similar question but without the use the "C" word. This one does. I answered it! Hope you do too!

No, this year we will be spending less. Not for economic reasons, though, we just decided to keep it simple and buy fewer gifts.

Hi BellStar-

Festivus was a holiday created and popularized by the television show Seinfeld a couple of years ago. It revolves around a few basic rituals:

And the Germans celebrated a Winter-Fest with large fires, that´s somehow also the origin of the (purely unchristian)Christmas tree (a German invention btw). Several cultures celebrated that, but is that a reason to mention them all? It became Christmas in our regions. As a Christian, I have no probs when others celebrate different holidays, I just despise the PC BS from other self-appointed Christians.

Yes, and if the stores are making money off of the Christmas holiday, how insane to not be able to say "Merry Christmas"! Definitely PC run amok.

Yeah. I could get angry when people don´t attend church on Christmas or don´t even remember the birth of Jesus, but call their fest "Christmas". HE should be in the center of our hearts and not the gifts we all give & get on Dec 24/25. Keeping this in mind, I wish you a blessed "Adventszeit". This is the time of the last four Sundays before Christmas, and we in Germany/Austria/Switzerland expect the arrival or our Saviour. We count the Sundays by lightening candles on each of the four Sundays and hearing winter tales:

Geez, they only have 10 votes in this poll. I guess if anyone has a strong opinion on this one - like showing faith in the economy and President Bush - they ought to vote in the poll and vote yes.

Here is the link in case you missed it.

Airing of Grievances ceremony to allow others to understand how they have disappointed you this year.

We do that every day!

Whenever I heard "Kwanzaa", it reminds me of the song, The 12 Days of Kwanzaa" that Ken Hamblin "The Black Avenger" used to play on his radio show - it was hilarious.

Really? Did they celebrate it at work? I'm becoming very suspicious of this holiday, as I have Black family members and Black friends and NOBODY I know celebrates it.

Here's a prior thread explaining the Kwanzaa situation. An interesting read.

Thanks, and time for your President to stop signing Kwanzaa proclamations!

Mu Quanza spending is definitely going to rise. I think this year I'll give one half of a shi! compared to last where when I didn't give any.

Making things easier for myself this Christmas by avoiding the hustle and bustle - only one gift per grandchild (nearly all teenagers and very fussy) plus a modest check
for each. Christmas cards? Yes for old friends. Have a wonderful holiday celebrating the glorious birth of our blessed redeemer, Jesus Christ to all FReepers out there.

Kwanzaa is a fake holiday, made up by leftist Ron Karenga.
