STOP TAXPAYER FUNDING OF THE ACLU!! - SIGN PETITION!
http://CourtZero.org ^ | NOVEMBER 28, 2004 | SPONSORS OF COURT ZERO.ORG

Posted on 11/28/2004 12:38:56 PM PST by CHARLITE

WHEREAS, the American Civil Liberties Union (the ACLU) has shown itself to be hostile to religious expression by private citizens and the civil rights of people of faith; and

WHEREAS, the ACLU has declared war on the Boy Scouts of America, the military of the United States, Christmas displays, public buildings that display the Ten Commandments, and many other American traditions; and

WHEREAS, the United States Congress, roughly thirty years ago, passed a provision in United States Code section 1988 that requires taxpayers to pay attorneys in civil rights cases; and

WHEREAS, the ACLU has abused that law to make untold millions of dollars simply by suing boy scouts, school children, military academies, cities and towns, with the goal of punishing any who dare to exercise their First Amendment right to religious freedom and expression; and

WHEREAS, the vast majority of taxpayers do not want to be forced to pay the ACLU to sue their neighbors and friends in the ACLU's efforts to strip America of all signs of faith; and

WHEREAS, the Establisment Clause of the First Amendment was not contemplated when USC section 1988 was passed;

THEREFORE, the People of the United States call upon their Congress to amend USC section 1988 so that hostile special interest groups such as the ACLU can no longer be granted taxpayer money to attack Americans and their institutions.

We, The People, call upon our elected representatives to amend USC section 1988 so that fees are not awarded to the ACLU or any other plaintiff in Establisment Clause cases. We wish for the Free Expression Clause to implicate at least the same financial incentives as attacks upon faith currently have.

Watch out for these petition sites. If you provide your email address, which is required, you're just signing up for more spam. I advise against participating.

Absolutely correct, you really don't want to be in some leftist's database. What is really needed if for Freepers to contact their Congressmen and Senators to cut funding for the ACLU. Even better Congress should pass legislation removing the ACLU's tax exempt status.

With a solid majority in the House, the largest Senate majority since the 1920s and Presidency, Republicans ought to be able to able to cut funding for leftist institutions. We have not had this amount of control of the federal government since the 1928 elections. Sure we won a bare majority control of the Senate in the 2002 midterm elections, but 55 seats is a much stronger positon. The fact that W won a solid majority of the popular vote gives him quite a bit of political capital, and unlike his father he intends to spend it.

I'll 2nd the "watch out for the petition sites" sentiment above.

But cutting off the funding to the ACLU. Golly would that make my whole lifetime.

Forget the ACLU, what about the UN? We give more money to that joke than any other nation on earth and what do we get for it? A big middle finger everytime. Absolutely no reason why that joke should get one more penny from the US much less be in the US. I live in NYC and you wouldn`t believe how these POS diplomats are treated. I use to deliver water to them, their condos are nothing less than hotels with maids, chefs, butlers bodygaurds, they live better than our own President for crying out loud, you wouldn`t believe it, and they just totally sap the city for every penny they can get their hands on. From demanding cop protection to demanding parking rights for their limos in front of loading docks so you have to double park your truck in the street to make a delivery. One guy I use to deliver to had 24 hour police protection standing in front of his building. Who pays for that? TAXPAYERS. And what do we get for it? NOTHING! And the condos for these "diplomats" if you can call them that, ain`t nothing compared to the Embassies of these idiot countries. Countries I never heard of with an Embassy in the richest part of Manhattan, blocks away from Gracie Masion and the UN yet making Gracie Mansion look like a shack! Entire 5 story buildings for an Embassy of Senagal! Senegal!! What the freak has Senegal ever done for the US, yet here they got almost the entire block shut off from parking. This is where I use to deliver to them....

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=dlMpN6160SzOpvgy.L_G8RKzTlYoAci0SxrAwUqr0TiV7YZmj9jIdunnOyC5uq2S&name=Senegal+Missions+to+the+Un&desc=%28212%29+517-9030&csz=New+York+NY&country=us&cs=10&qty=9&ds=n

I use to have to actually park on 2nd avenue and haul 25 5 gallon bottles a block and half because these POS`s didn`t want anyone parking on "their street". Do you know what it`s like to haul that much water that far? IT`S HELL! And that`s just ONE Embassy/Mission in NYC. There are HUNDREDS that take up entire blocks. And you should see Mexicos on 72nd street. Two people in the place the entire time I delivered there which was about two years, and they never did ANYTHING. All they did was hang out yet they had a 5 story building all to themselves. For what?? Does two people need an entire 5 story building?

All you hear from liberals is "Less money for the military, more money for the poor and education" yet they grovel at this UN like it`s God almighty. The UN is like a meeting place for the mafia, and we treat them like they`re untouchables, like we need them. They totally eat up our money and they are USELESS. Put them all in a 4 foot office space in Albany or something, and if they don`t like it, tough, LEAVE.

And have my life threatened by these group of gangsters? Not until there is a true movement against the ACLU will I sign up. So I guess I take 'em on alone since I hate them so. Where is there offices? I'd protest them. Dress up like a communist and hand out anti-aclu material explaining how they are Nazi fascist..... but I live away from major city centers.

The way to protest these losers is to stress their ridiculous ideology to the max.

Why would the government pay for ACLU bills anyway?

When a lawsuit is raised against the United States government and won, the government is required to pay the legal fees of the party initiating the lawsuit. This law was enacted to level the playing field so the common man could raise a just grievance against the government without bankrupting himself in the process. The ACLU has exploited this law by raising ridiculous anti-everything-we-care-about lawsuit after lawsuit. Every time they win a case, you and I as taxpayers line their pockets with our dollars. I always wondered who had enough money to perpetuate the ACLU -- I didn't think it possible for anyone to have pockets that deep -- then I realized our tax dollars are their bankrole. Without ever handing them a dime, I have been made an unwilling ACLU financial supporter. It makes me positively ill.

This is a good start. How about passing laws that enable US to prosecute ACLU for Un-American activities and use the Rico statute to boot for multiple counts of harrassment. It sure would be good to see them have to defend their silly @ss in court with their extinction at stake. It would temper their activities if not eliminate them. It's a good principle of justice that "what's good for the goose is good for the gander too."

While we are at it, Not only should the ACLU be a target but so should the NAACP and any other organization that has reaped (or should that be, RAPED) the tax payer for partisan politics.

As for the petitions, You may end up on a list that spams you but the idea is there and might wake some people up to the facts so we can contact our elected officials who are suppose to be working for US to let them know we are tired of the B.S.
