Have just finished reading the numerous replies -- some of them truly heart breaking -- of this evening's post "Lost an Old Friend Today. Politics and the Personal"; and I find that far and away most of these intense,friendship-breaking liberals mentioned in these posts are women. (Obviously, not all.)
Add to this that in many news stories it seems to be chiefly women who protest this or that by climbing trees or running around with their blouses off; or that when it come to really off-the-wall legal ruling(s), college admin. decisions, local government declarations, etc. odds are pretty darn good that, well, cherchez le femme (Once again, obviously not all.)
So that got me wondering why are so many "everyday" (non-MSM types) female liberals so intense/noisy/nasty/passionate/insistent/mean spirited? The MSM types I can understand. After all, bad manners make good publicity, and good publicity sells more books, gets one more TV appearances, more time on the lecture circuit, etc.
But I'm talking about everyday liberal women who have nothing to gain, and so very much to lose.... Why do they do what they do and act the way they act?*
I'd sure like to here some opinions on that.
*(And IMHO not that many of them seem to mellow with age.)
Many good ideas on this thread, but there are some common themes. First it is generally accepted that for the most part women tend towards the emotional whilst men tend towards the analytical. Liberalism has many "feminine" attributes in this sense. You should feel guilty driving down the highway listening to music because some onion farmer in Bangladesh had his entire hovel washed away in the monsoon. Liberals do think they are morally superior. I've spoken to many of them and that is a common trait. The clippedhaired dyke types who are at the vocal forefront of radical sixties burnout socialist activist groups are trapped in a nightmarish world of being plumbed an "innie" with the chemical makeup of an "outie". That makes 'em mean.
They're mean because they don't like the slim pickings in men they get. Liberal women are good for a roll in the sack but not much else.
"why are so many "everyday" (non-MSM types) female liberals so intense/noisy/nasty/passionate/insistent/mean spirited?"
I seriously believe the answer lies in who becomes liberal to begin with. My judgment is that liberalism exists to provide a platform of righteous indignation which justifies an otherwise indefensible level of resentment anger and hate.
In my experience watching these people for forty years, I am convinced that they are bitter, hateful people, for any of a myriad of personal historic reasons, who cannot simply face their own demons.
They have to externalize the enemy within; liberalism creates, and identifies, a set of demonized enemies against whom they can direct their corrosive aggression.
In other words, liberals are not nasty and angry because they are liberal; they are, rather, liberal because under the skin they are nasty and hateful people.
I have never met or interacted with an individual who did not fit this hypothesis, given enough information to make a determination.
There is a term for it.
It's called Malignant Narcissism.
>>Funny. Most conservative women I know are complete babies, rude, and kind of dumb. Most liberal women I know are mature, kind, caring, and smart.>>
Yeah, that IS funny. Liberals are whining babies whose unassured natures wreak of instability and scheming lives.
Up here, if you go through the union-controlled public education system, there is a lot of man-hating and anger in general.
I find it is mostly angry people that go for the liberalism. It feeds into their already bitter foundation.
Our school system is rampant with gays and lesbians. They post notices for their lesbian meetings, gay events, in the teacher's lounges. Lots of male-bashing.
Hmm...
Maybe society (liberal, that is) teaches them that they are helpless exploited victims, and their only response (other than finding the truth) is to lash out in anger and rage at their perceived tormentors.
Dated a feminist type once. It was kind of odd. She poked fun at my beliefs, etc. for a while, but I think that after a while, she realized that unlike most of the guys she'd been hanging out with, I was *nice*. I think that in the end, she liked me, even if I was a barbarian throwback.
Funny, I kinda miss her.
Go fig.
Radical feminism is cold and deeply dissatisfying. Radical feminists deny everything in themselves that has the potential for peace and happiness and joy and fulfillment.
If I did that, I'd be pissy too.
Juliann is a woman?
