"Al-Manar is a fountain of hatred against Jews, Israel, America and other Western societies spilling over the airwaves, and it should not be allowed to use France as a vehicle for spreading its message of hate across Europe,"

NEW YORK, Nov. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The American Jewish Committee today called on the French government to reverse the decision of the French broadcasting authority to grant a license to Al-Manar, a Lebanese-based station, to broadcast in France. Al-Manar is linked to the terrorist group Hezbollah.
"It is incomprehensible why the French government, which earlier had insisted on banning Al-Manar as part of its strategy to confront radicalism, now is allowing the Hezbollah message of hate to reach into every home in Europe," said Jason Isaacson, director of AJC's Office of Government and International Affairs.
Isaacson conveyed AJC's outrage in a private meeting in Paris with Jean-Frangois Cope, the spokesman for the French government.
"Al-Manar is a fountain of hatred against Jews, Israel, America and other Western societies spilling over the airwaves, and it should not be allowed to use France as a vehicle for spreading its message of hate across Europe," said Isaacson.
AJC understands that Al Manar signed a code of conduct in order to get the French license. However, it is inconceivable that Al Manar will be able to fulfill the terms of that code, to desist from spewing vitriolic hatred, given that Hezbollah's primary goals are the destruction of Israel and murder of Jews.
That Presbyterian group visited and praised Hamas after divesting from Israel.... so anything is possible
Is there really any doubt that France doesn't oppose terrorism? Seriously. They hate US almost as much as the terrorists themselves.

Jew-hatred skyrocketing in Belgium
49 complaints related to anti-Semitism have already been filed in Belgium in 2004, compared to four in 1999, according to Viviane Teitelbaum, MR deputy to the Parliament of the Brussels-capital region, on November 19. "Jewish children are regularly attacked in the street, the metro, the park. The situation is becoming unbearable." (Guysen.Israel.News)
No completely comprehensible given Chirac and other corrupt french politicians being on the bribe payroll of Saddam for 20 years. Just a matter of money from some well funded (by the Saudis) IslamoFascists. Voila! Licenses for al Queda broadcasts magicaly appear.
France and Europe will suffer sooner rather than later for a string of incomprehensible decisions. I don't want to sound like Tom Daschle here, but in all seriousness, it makes me sad to see what has happened to Europe, and it's only going to get worse. You don't stop radical Islam (read "terrorism") by kow-towing to it.
You left out Ho Chi Minh.
Exactly.
I can imagine the French Muslims defending the broadcasting service shouting "freedom of speech".
Those Presbyterian liberals need to march over to Hamas' headquarters and demand that a percentage of Islamic terrorist leaders be openly homosexual. This is an important aspect of human rights that the left has so far tragically neglected.
What's incomprehensible? The French are antisemitic. Always have been. Always will be.
Being Jewish myself I can only say one thing: why do you keep voting Democrats, asshoses????!!! Until you come to your senses, please, put your whining on hold.
"Is there really any doubt that France doesn't oppose terrorism? Seriously. They hate US almost as much as the terrorists themselves."
I think they hate the US more than the terrorists do, they just don't have the guts to do anything about it.
Why would they think it Incomprehensible? Remember this is the French we're talking about.
Horrible...yes
Despicable...yes
Stupid...yes
but incomprehensible....no. It's entirely comprehensible.
I agree. Wonder if the decision is some kind of backlash against Bush's reelection and the push against Fallujah.
Just when it seems the French cannot get any lower, they do! If I were Jewish and living in France, I'd be down at the nearest Israeli consulate filling out the paperwork for emmigration to Israel ASAP!
As attacks rise in France, Jews flock to Israel

"France is an Arab country. That's enough for us to leave," says Moshe Bendrihem, 50, a Morrocan-born Jew who moved from a Paris suburb four years ago to Eli, a West Bank settlement. Bendrihem wears a skullcap, or kippah. He didn't always. "It is impossible to wear a kippah in France," he said, for fear of being singled out for attack.
