Newsmax recently noticed that Hillary Clinton is starting to play up border security and illegal immigration:
More than any other leader of either political party, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has been focusing on the issue of immigration reform and border security - taking hard-line positions that appeal to frustrated Republicans in a move that could guarantee her enough red state support to win the White House in 2008.On Wednesday, as the media descended on Little Rock to cover the opening of her husband's presidential library, Sen. Clinton criticized the Bush administration for not using advanced technology to improve border security...
I've often said that the only thing saving the GOP open-borders elite on this issue has been Democratic stupidity. No longer. Hillary is many things--venal, arrogant, authoritarian, ruthless --but she is no dummy. (Did you see where she chose to make her tough-on-borders remarks? FOX News Channel.)
Unlike the Wall Street Journal editorial board, she seems to understand that the overwhelming support among Americans of all backgrounds for stricter immigration enforcement is grounded not in knee-jerk "nativism," but in rational
self-preservation. It isn't just bigots who want secure borders. It's families like the parents and widows who formed 9/11 For A Secure America, many of whom are lifelong Republicans fed up with the pro-amnesty antics of the Bush White House. It's families of victims of illegal immigration, whom both the Beltway and media have ignored.
I myself would never vote for Hillary. But the Republican establishment takes for granted at its peril the significant number of party faithful who may be sorely tempted to do so if the Bush betrayal at the border continues.
Hillary Rodham Buchanan? Don't laugh. She could be the GOP's worst nightmare in '08.
You'd be right. See some of the pre-election threads and who people said they wrote in and voted for... strictly because of the immigration issue? If Hillary becomes an "avid anti-alien advocate"... she'd win some of the "principles" voters.
Hildebeasts voting record in the Senate has showed a Centrist type record. She has bben and will continue to make sure that she stays that way. Maybe even going to the right a little. Why not throw the conservative right a few bones? This nightmare wants back in the White House!!
I've said it before, she will be showing up in church and she has. She will be walking on water by 2008 if she can. She will be in churches spouting her new found evangilical spirit. She will do and say anyhting to win that election and then the treachery begins!
George W. Has got to take this away from the Socialists. He's want his workers program, OK, then start taking clases at Isreal U for WALL Construction 101, and start CONTROLLING the borders and enforcing the 9/11 & EXISTING IMMIGRATION LAWS.
Yeah, but there may be a lot of people who believe what she is saying about this because they want to believe it. They are so frustrated about the nonaction and spineless stance on this issue by many politicians, they may vote for Hillary and just hope she does what she says.
I still chuckle everytime I see that pic.
Exactly! This is ludicrous along with seeing Freepers buying into Hillary's crap -- guess she could sell the Brooklyn Bridge to some people on here if she said she wanted every illegal removed. Anyone that thinks she is going to alienate the Hispanic vote needs their head examined. She is trying to find a wedge issue for 2006 to gain back some seats and some folks on here cannot see the forest for the trees!
President Bush has not called for amnesty but a worker program with time limits like you stated -- we get it, why don't some of the rest or are these the anyone but Bush crowd?
Hillary, like all POLITICIANS will sell their soul for one term. She doesn't care about immigration, the polls just say it is an important topic.
Hey, Peroutka/Baldwin of the Constitution Party are almost to 150,000 votes! Not a bad showing, considering there were 120,400,000 votes cast!
We'll be sure to listen to YOUR political punditry.
Who cares? It's not believable. Bush can wave this turd at us a million times, it'll still stink.
If illegal folks get made legal - that's amnesty. Just because Bush and co. attach some "temporary" label fig leaf to their amnesty doesn't mean it's not an amnesty. It just the same old bait and switch: amnesty now - enforcement "later"
There She Goes!
Hillary is morphing - again - !!
It may well be that Hillary doesn't care about immigration. In fact, it's likely she doesn't but we cannot know. On the other hand, we know for certain that Bush doesn't care.
In her comments, HIllary suggested that
ALL citizens be tracked...
It was slipped in there, between her
immigration comments.
Hillary Rodham
Always EVIL
Her TRUE intentions
Always just under
the Radar
Very few in Washington care. The only thing that brings it to center stage is people like Stein report, American patrol, and Congresspeople such as Tom Tancredo.
P.S. the only reason she's talking about it is because it is opposing to what Bush is talking about.
She has probably seen polls on the topic too.
EXACTLY! Excellent point. That was in the back of my mind as well.
I would bet that there are some here who would do it.
You got that right.
