Exclusive: Kerry Says UBL Tape Cost Him Election
Fox News ^ | Saturday, November 20th, 2004 | Fox

NEW YORK — John Kerry (search) believes he lost to President Bush because of the video from Usama bin Laden (search) that surfaced just days before the Nov. 2 presidential election.

The Massachusetts senator told FOX News' senior correspondent Geraldo Rivera that he believes he lost because the tape may have scared the American electorate.

Rivera spoke to Kerry on Thursday as the senator and a slew of other notable names — including wife Teresa Heinz Kerry, actors Robin Williams and Morgan Freeman and comedian Chris Tucker — were in a holding room prior to the processional leading up to the formal opening of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark.

"Tough luck, senator," Rivera said to Kerry, referring to the Democrat's election loss.

Trying to recount Kerry's words verbatim, Rivera said Kerry responded by saying:

"It was that Usama tape — it scared them [the American people]." Lurch was the one scaring them..

Rivera said Kerry said the tape came out too late for his camp to rebut and the Democratic campaign couldn't counteract it in time for the Tuesday election.

It wasn't Kerry's fault; it was all Osama. Of course, the Osama tape could help Bush only by reminding people how much safer they would feel with him rather than Kerry.

No, you lost because the American people weren`t foolish enough to vote for an avowed Communist and enemy of our military in time of war.

Yeah... THAT's the ticket.

He is just like Clinton saying that he was persecuted by the EVIL Ken Starr, and the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, and the MSM (like THEY didn't kiss his ass the ENTIRE time he was in office, EVEN when he was busy murdering innocent men, women, and CHILDREN at Waco; or sending in Jack-Booted Thugs with HK's to "rescue" little Elian and send him back to a COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP,etc., etc.), and on and on...

Kerry is the same type of arrogant Narcissist who thinks he can do no wrong and/or, who is in a state of constant denial. He blamed the Secret Service agents there to defend his LIFE, if need be, for causing him to fall down on the ski slopes. He even FLIP-FLOPPED recently by one day saying his campaign ground forces didn't get out the vote good enough, and then turned around and posted a video on the internet that praised those people for their efforts.

He will NEVER admit that the reason he LOST is because the American people don't LIKE him, don't TRUST him, and realize that he doesn't stand for anything, and will say or do ANYTHING in an effort to get elected. In short, he lost because he is John F'ing Kerry. He, and ONLY he, SHOULD take the blame for losing. Face it John....

you're a LOSER!

Private JOKER (from Full Metal Jacket) had more cajones on a bad day, than John F'in Kerry has accumulated in a lifetime.

Kerry is like any DemocRAT - unable to accept rejection from the American people, he makes excuses. Now Kerry joins that pantheon of other RAT-losers, Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, and of course: Al 'I Ate The Internet, "burp"' Gore.

Speaking of Full Metal Jacket, sometime you should all check out the website of R. Lee Ermey (who played the Gunnery Instructor in F.M.J.):

It's a blast! :)

Kerry is trying to pick the fly poop out of the pepper.

If, not for the organized attacks on Pres. Bush by the media, the 527's, etc., Kerry would not have come within 15 points Bush.

I thought Osama wanted Bush elected for recruiting purposes!

I hope his recruiting is going well, he has to replace a couple of thousand terrorists from last week.

It appears now that what used to be "Bush's fault"

now is "Osama's Fault", so:

All bad things that now happen in the universe of democrats = Osama's fault.

I'm almost surprised Kerry didn't parrot Walter Cronkite line about the "Roverian" plot to get UBL to make the tape.

In fact the Osama tape, in my opinion, was a fake. when I say a "fake" i mean it was balderdash. I don't believe Bin Laden speaks for Arab world as he once has. Too many terroist cells have surfaced with their own agendas, far from Bin Laden. He's nothing more then voice that is unheard. If he is captured/or is killed another terroist leader gains power as is the case now. (Sorry for my late posting)

This really ought to be backfiring against Kerry and hurting any scrap of dignity he is trying to save by saying this.

After all, it can just as easily be said that the Bin Laden tape gave Kerry a boost to help make it seem a bit closer. Kerry was the one who was pointing out that we hadn't caught Bin Laden yet and that the President didn't really care about Bin Laden. Does he honestly mean to tell us that he didn't try to pounce on that fact? Were he a stong candidate, that tape should have turned the election decisively in his favor!

Kerry barked up the wrong tree throughout the entire election, and he continues to do so even in the post election. He thinks he is salvaging credibility for 2008. Instead, he is destroying it, much as Al Gore destroyed himself after 2000.

Good, let them all keep thinking that. Then they'll never figure out how to solve their real problems, and they'll never win an election again...

UBL tape may have contributed to Kerry losing the election.

But the real reason that Kerry lost the election is that the Baby Boomers remembered who he was and what he did in 1971. He was a traitor.

Harvard did not accept him into their law school because he wouldn't have been able to sit for the bar exam with a less than honorable discharge.

Kerry is a classic case of getting a by from powerful institutions and people like Boston College and no doubt the Kennedy family. What goes around comes back around in spades.

Massachusetts is the most corrupt state in America. It's run by Democrats. There is a token Repub governor who has no power.

The big dig is an example of the corruption in Massachusetts.

Kerry said the tape came out too late for his camp to rebut

What's to rebut?

Is Mr. Kerry admitting that the American people viewed him as weak? His non-existent plans hadn't gotten traction?

How could OBL possibly be someone who needed rebutting by JK?

Take a deep breath John, ...you lost.

Need to supplement "P.E.S.T." (Post-Election Selection Trauma) with "D.D.T.D." (Democrat-Delusional Thought Disorder).

Wow! It's the left-wing media's fault that Clinton exposed himself in front of a low-level Arkansas state employee!

It's Usama bin Laden's fault that Kerry screwed up his campaign!

George W. Bush received a greater percentage of the popular vote than the Democrat presidents (except for only two, FDR and LBJ) have since the Republican party became a national party in 1856! Over 148 years! 38 presidential election cycles! With a track record like that the Democrats might want to re-think their core strategy! (Or maybe not. It's best for us if they keep repeating the very same mistakes.)

"D.D.T.D." (Democrat-Delusional Thought Disorder).

Very good acronym: D.D.T.D.

I'm sort of partial to "Bush Derangement Syndrome" myself

B.D.S. could be a subset disorder to D.D.T.D.

"It was that Usama tape — it scared them [the American people]."

I love this! Just like Bill Clinton revisionist history wing of Impeachment in his Tailer Liebrary.

John, it wasn't usama, it was YOU that scared the Shinola out of the American people!

Kerry's from the same mold as Clinton, never blame yourself.
Whether it's evil Republicans bringing your personal life into matters or it's UBL scarring the people into voting for Bush. Could it be that as a candidate you just stunk? maybe you flipfloped too much? or could it be voters don't have very fond memories of the Adams Family.
Being a Democrat is never having to take responsibility for your actions and to blame it on everyone else.
Delusional is the word that comes to mind.
