A little background, please. Not all of us are New Yorkers. I've never heard of the person.

Former NY Republican state senator from the Bronx. He took bribes.

I had a raccoon in my basement today! It cost $100 to have him removed! Talk about "Yikes!"

I don't know the full story, but he had been sentenced to serve 12 or 14 months in prison on a bribery conviction, and was released after only a month or two under a highly unusual "sentencing review process" of some sort.

A Republican from the Bronx? Sounds like an oxymoron.
To: clyde260
Actually a little background. I/we are in his district. It was a power play by the NYS Dems. to get rid of one of the most powerful people in Albany. REPUBLICAN - Guy Velella, who is now replaced with a super liberal Dem.
Guy did much for us, and took the job seriesly, and he was hugh in the scheme of things. So it's not really good that he's gone.
Oh yeah, one more thing, the DA who took him down was Bob Morganthau, a liberal Dem. from Manhattan! What the He__ was he doing prosecuting a Bronx person?????????

Compared to what Guy did, Shelly Silver should be doing Life in a federal pen.

Little late to cry about that JJ. You are on FR so one must assume you voted for the nefarious GWB43+1. Sure, he has core values which inform the plan to defeat terrorism and is obviously serious about maintaining America's preeminent standing in the world, but look at the price of this hubris. $100 to remove the raccoon from your basement! Why? BECAUSE OF HALLIBURTON!. You know, Cheney. And oil...and stuff. Open your eyes. Sure, Kerry might have been a little unsure about what to do in Iraq. And he probably would have allowed our troops to be tried by an International Court, he is against abortion unless of course he is for it (I think)and regarding the 87 billion... hell, who knows, that's not the point. Kerry would have felt your pain about the feral beast tearing up your basement...but as importantly, he would have felt the beast's confusion (because that's what liberals do!), what with this house being built on his ancestral home by...Europhile...phalluscentric...uh...male...hegomonic bipeds (I guess)...and he was probably pissed off about this as he tore dug through your garbage cans as political protest(the raccoon, not Dennis Kucinek)and Kerry would have shown up at your door with a banned shotgun and someone else carrying a dead goose that he did not shoot while hunting because, well...he wants to ban guns because it's the liberal way, but...PETA hippies like geese (but alive, not shot)...I don't know where he got the goose...but anyway, he has a gun, because he doesn't want to go mano-a-mano with a feral raccoon like he did... or didn't do with the VC...so like, regarding your raccoon problem...Kerry has a plan! Or had one. Just like the plan he had on Iraq...the one he couldn't tell us about because...on account it was secret and he could,uh, would only tell us if we elected him...BUT you blew it. So you don't get to know his fabulous secret plan to like, save the world and Iraq...AND YOU DON'T GET HIS SECRET PLAN TO REMOVE THE RACCON FROM YOUR BASEMENT...so there. Don't cry to me about winning the war in Iraq...uh, I mean, you know, about raccoons... cuz I voted for Kerry. And..uh, ...I don't have raccoons in my basement. I don't have a basement. There is this cat in the crawl space, but...That'll learn you bast###'s at FR from voting Republican

Oh. I thought he got in because I left the cat door open all night.
To: huac
Don't you see, that's what Halliburton want's you to think. And Diebold, the guys who made the voting machines...and probably that wood company that Kerry accused GWB of owning at the debates...Wake up America.
