Posts on conservative website advocate violence against journalist The discussion board at FreeRepublic.com, a prominent right-wing online forum, contains numerous posts from members advocating violence against NBC News correspondent Kevin Sites, who recorded and reported the close-range shooting by a U.S. Marine of an unarmed and wounded Iraqi insurgent.

Comments about Sites on Free Republic include:

"Turn Sites over to the terrorist." "Fragamundo." "No need for anything overt. Unfortunate things happen in combat zones, and if the reporter fails to hear someone yell 'Sniper!!', well, c'est la guerre" [French for "that is war"]. [In response to a post suggesting Sites's "life is in danger being around the Marines"]: "I would certainly hope so." I don't think Media Matters really matters.

I'd really like to know how many people this reporter is going to get killed? How many marines will die from being too timid to shoot a wounded terrorist that tries to fake like its dead? How many more terrorists will there be now that Al Jazeera has been fed some new non-Baghdad Bob propaganda?

I really want to know exactly how this exactly this story broke. Was his first plan of action to call up his buddies in NYC? Did he first try to bring it up through the military?

I'm sorry but there needs to be some executive action taken. Let this case go through its due process, but don't let the MSM win its little propaganda game. Get interviews of the fallujans talking about how the insurgents treated them. Show the video of the former hostage being released. Show some images of the beheading rooms. Show pictures of the woman who had her arms and legs cut off. Show the video of the CARE worker being killed. Show some video of a soldier getting blown up after trying to help a wounded man. This is all very gruesome but its needed to stop the endless BS flowing from the leftists and Arabs.

I notice they didn't argue that Sites' buddies aren't terrorists.

I guess that's because they prefer the company of terrorists, too, and prefer not to draw attention to their preferences.

I also notice that they missed my suggestion, which was to have Mr. Sites and other of his ilk be the ones to precede the arrival of the Marines for the purpose of testing the vital signs of any downed terrorists they come across to see if they are still capable of pulling a trigger, a knife, or letting go of a grenade. The journalists and camaermen can frisk them for weapons and other such things first, so as to save our much more valuable Marines the trouble and risk of doing it. Think of how many wounded mass murderers a journalist can save by going in there first to separate the incapacitated deadly chaff from the "just playing dead" deadly chaff.

After all, reporters are common, are mostly useless, are careless, prone to get people killed, corrupt, and expandable- in other words, they can be replaced to better effect by just about anyone. But Marines are precious - they are essential for preserving our liberties- even those of undeserving, spineless, terrorist-pandering journalists.

The same thought came to my mind, since Sites (and other MSM idiots) apparently think that identifying "harmless wounded" from "still a threat wounded" on the battlefield is so easy that it's fair to play Monday-morning-quarterback on the national news and smear a Marine.

So let the reporters do it. While the Marines watch. While their cameramen tape the results and broadcast them.

Sure we are on top of their list, First Amendment, and all that nonwithstanding, just like all the other 'rights' they crow about, it is for them not us.

The backlash against the journalist is understandable, given the fact that had circumstances been just one little grenade different, the Marine would have saved the journalist's life. The Marine's actions seem prudent, the journalist patently ungrateful.

IMO the MSM has done all they can to demoralize our troops and our people. If they want to be a propaganda organ for the enemy, we should embed them with the other side and let them take their chances under fire with the terrorists, not second-guess our troops while they are protecting their sorry asses.

In the past, enemies have used various tricks to kill American servicemen. False surrenders, playing dead, or booby trapped dead and injured have all been ploys to kill servicemen. In WWII Americans quickly tired of these tactics in the war with Japan. To make sure the Japanese were dead they would shoot each body in the head. I would like to see the same thing applied in Iraq. Shoot a terrorist, save an American.

I agree with you. I don't like playing this game, but if the terrorists want a fair break, they should cease their treachery, get off the playing field and go back to living normal lives. The terrorists are to blame, that there's any hostility at all going on in Iraq. Without them, Iraq would be peaceful and prosperous.
