Worth the effort to read. F*** the tangos - that Marine did right.
Thanks for the post. I think the majority of Americans know that these young men are pumped full of adrenaline, afraid of being killed by booby-trapped bodies and terrorists feigning death. What I wish would happen is for the military command to come out and say that as long as the terrorists are violating the rules of engagement, any wounded terrorists will be shot.
The "prisoners" were left unattended for a period of time. The Marine who shot him had no way to know, one, the insurgents degree of disability or capacity to attack, and two, whether he was armed or rigged with explosives (whether consciously or not). This really is a no- brainer, Monday morning quarterbacking aside. A Marine who has been engaged in mortal combat for a prolonged period went through a door in a combat zone, with no knowledge of what was on the other side and made a split second decision upon which his and his teammates lives depended. What do we say to him? Thank you for your service to your country. Semper Fidelis.
I had no trouble "wading through" it. It is compelling beyond words. I am hoping the "brass" understands that the support for this Marine far outweighs the lust for his blood from those who would condem and it will stiffen their spines.
That's powerful and answers a lot of questions.
Some of these a$$holes want to have our Marine brought on charges and be subject to the international court Never !!
I would rather go to war with the world before one US Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Coastguardsmen stands before the International Court.
The Kofi Annans, Chriac's and the rest of the Gangsters, murderers' and thieves on the long list of the Oil For Food Acam. They are the reasons the US Armed Forces are in these war's. They turned their heads and accepted kickbacks from Saddam which made the sanctions ineffective.
No problem with your post at all.
There gonna have to lynch the Marine over my dead body!
Kevin Sites is famous now. Maybe now he should go back to New York, write his book, and get the fark out of the way from now on.
Too bad Sikes wasn't in the first room. I for one will do anything in my power for this marine. I don't know what I can do, but I'll do something. He deserves no less. How dare they talk this marine down.
NBC sent somewhat like that to photo and film our troops in a deadly combat area.
He should stay in New York - I doubt he'll be welcome in Red State Country.
Any chance you could e-mail Hannity and get him together with your son on the phone for Hannity & Colmes? Just a thought...
Tonk,
A big PING!
I expect this marine has the full support of the POTUS. If not, I am sorely disappointed. But I don't think there is a chance Bush would let this man get punished in any way.
Formatting aside, this is a beautiful post. Keep up the good fight over there, we'll keep'em safe over here.
Same post, formatted for ease of reading. I also deleted the last sentence because it appeared to be a fragment of another sentence (GEN Abizaid is not a retired Marine.)
Good Morning Everybody. The following is an email from my son regarding the NBC report (with embedded reporter Kevin Sites), concerning the Marine who is being investigated for "murdering" the insurgent in Fallaja. I will be sending his mail to every news program's email I can find. I find it sickening that this Kevin Sites is even allowed to be embedded with our Marines, as this isn't the first report I've heard from him that took on a decidely unfriendly tone. My son also gave me permission to release it to anyone that wants to pass it on, as long as it remains unedited.
