Looks like they are going to need a lot of support.
BUMP
Absolutely true! It can't hurt for them to know that MILLIONS of us LOVE the Corp, and stand with them 110%!!! Whatever it takes!!! GOD bless the MARINES!!!
LLS
Everytime I have seen a seviceman interviewed since the Marine shooting hit the air, they have been asked if they think that the Military should discontinue the embeds. I haven't seen one of them say Yes.
They have all said they like it because then people back home will really know what it is like. They even like the fact that their families can see what is going on.
My problem with the embed in this case, and NBC and ABC, they (from what I understand, I may be wrong) didn't turn it over to the Marines and have it cleared for broadcast. Then, they didn't present it with enough context and narrative and interviews with other Marines to keep it from being made so inflammatory. Then, lo and behold, even tho they have been kicked out of Iraq, Al-jareera gets it and shows it unedited and actually shows the faces of the Marines.
No doubt the servicemen like the immediate connection to home the imbeds provide, but I'm sure they would also rather it not be so easy for some yahoo with an agenda to whip up world opinion against them by releasing inflammatory, out of context info that will ultimately make their jobs tougher & get more of them killed.
The imbeds ought to be managed similar to the way combat correspondence in WWII were - by the military & very tightly. In fact I thought they were until this episode.
It has been S.O.P. since the founding of our country for information coming out of a war zone to be vetted and censored if necessary, in order to protect our troops.
It's too bad that some of the press can't be trusted to do the right thing even during a war situation when our men are in danger. I think we need to make it clear that the sort of thing that went down with the releasing of that film and the extremely negative comments about it just isn't acceptable.
Clinton ordered the main TV station in Belgrade bombed and innocent civilians killed without warning because he didn't want unfavorable news to be broadcast about his deliberate bombing of civilian targets in Yugoslavia. Surely if the MSM could put up with the killing of their colleagues and hosts in Belgrade, and never complain about it, they could put up with having their combat films checked and if necessary censored before they are released.
Similarly, the MSM never even gave a peep when Janet Reno sent in thugs to knock down their cameramen during the Elias raid. They never complained when hillary's goons knocked down two TV cameramen during the gay St. Patrick's Day parade in NYC because they caught pictures of the crowd booing her.
It seems as if freedom of the press has become extremely selective.
bump!

All in a day's work.
Important Notice PING!
Not for nothing but, who do you think provided those interviews?
Important Notice PING!
(In case you haven't already been pinged.)

I agree - go after the media - they seem even worse now that the election is over. Sore about something - ()
Well - at least the military knows where the people stand - and I do hope that will get all the way to the ones who will decide the guy's fate - Something good to think about -
Thanks for the information - God bless our military and this nation -
We need to rise up and deal once and for all with the major media - Wondering if/when the investigation of CBS will be coming out - Or do they hope the people have forgotten -
I hate the MSM. They are a bunch of unpatriotic, ignorant, unbelievable simpletons who care only for ratings and advancing liberal causes.
The marine was right and he has something to worry about. I heard a MArine Captian on TV last night state unequivocally that Al Jazeera was broadcasting his identity. The Captain was very concerned for the safety of the MArines family here at home.
By the way, this Marine Captain lost an eye to an IED strapped to a dead or wounded, not clear on that, deadender.
Tonk...I just sent you an urgent freep mail.
