Hosting Anime's New Owners Apparently Pulling the Plug on Terror Sites

Hosting Anime's New Owners Apparently Pulling the Plug on Terror Sites

Jeremy Reynalds, JoyJunction, Nov. 16, 2004

It appears a shadowy internet service provider that showed many of the recent beheadings in Iraq, as well as the video of now decapitated British hostage Ken Bigley chained and in a cage begging for his life, is now changing for the better.

This message appears on many of the terror sites formerly hosted by Hosting Anime (sic).
"This account has been suspended for (terms of service) violations. Hosting Anime is under new management and we will not be as tolerant of questionable content as in the past. If you find objectional content on our servers, please post in our forums."
These are among the terror sites no longer operating.

The changes occurred quickly after the apparent ownership changes at Hosting Anime. A Sunday night posting by company administrator "Darkfiles" on a Hosting Anime forum read in part (sic), "I am have informed by our other partners that hostinganime.com has been sold new and better owner who I am sure will continue uphold hostinganime even better than the old owners."

The message was signed by Wang Chi, Kevin/Brian Burdocks and Ryan Petterson

For many months, terror site trackers dogged the administrators of Hosting Anime both on public forums and personal messages to encourage them to clean up their act.

Questions to Hosting Anime were answered either by "HA-twoeyes" or "HA- Darkfiles." A private message sent through the Hosting Anime forum to "twoeyes" asking if he lived overseas was answered in part like this, "I believe you are confused about me, I do not live overseas ...  Perhaps you are thinking of Kevin? I am unsure."

Another e-mail to "twoeyes" asking whether Kevin was Darkfiles was answered with this comment.
"No, 'Darkfiles' is not Kevin. We mask who Kevin is so we can lead you in circles and laugh at you."
All of the contact information for Hosting Anime has been false. It has ranged from a mail drop in Westchester, Ca., to false addresses and telephone numbers in Seattle. In many cases, the name "Mike Smith" has been used.

However, while "Mike Smith" has been impossible to track, "HA-two eyes," who also apparently refers to himself as the "amazing two- eyed man," has posted contact information on a number of technical bulletin boards.

At one Internet location, "Two Eyes" provided his e- mail addresses as twoeyes@fusionphp.netmazzarito12@hotmail.com and on Instant Messenger at amazing2eyedman. His home page was listed as http://fusionphp.net

In addition, the somewhat acerbic personality of "twoeyes" and the mellower character of "Darkfiles" has attracted comments on Internet bulletin boards (www.php-net.net/topic.php?p=10170) such as (sic):
"Some of you might know them ("Darkfiles" and "theamazingTWOeyedman") from dbznetwork or hostinganime, and anyways vote for the best person personality wise/the person you think is nicer and explain why."
An e- mail to mazzarito12@hotmail.com tracked through an electronic verification service  reported an 81 percent probability of the recipient (presumably "twoeyes"), being in Coudersport Pa. The town has an estimated population of less than 3,000 people.        The same verification service also reported that the language on the e-mail recipient's personal computer was in English.

An Instant Message from this writer to the self-described "Amazing Two Eyed Man" was revealing. He first responded by saying,
"Why are you stalking me?"
As the conversation progressed, "twoeyes" asked about the financial health of the homeless shelter this writer directs, writing that he has some friends who would like to donate.

"It  might help you focus more on Joy Junction and less on us," he wrote. "Say $10,000? I'll leave you with that. Let me know within two days."

When this writer pursued the conversation, "twoeyes" wrote that it wasn't $10,000 he was offering, but rather 10,000 Romanian lei (www.oanda.com/convert/fxdaily?value=1&date_fmt=us&redirected=1&lang=en&exch=USD&exch2=&expr2=&format=HTML&dest=Get+Table&sel_list=ROL).
"Do you see how easily you're led in false circles?" he wrote. "Don't you see I have never told you the truth at all."

However, in the same Instant Message the "Amazing Two Eyed Man" appeared concerned. He wrote, "What would you do if you found out where I lived?" ... You seem desperate to find out where I live, what my name is, etc. Why? What do you want to do? Come to my house?"

When this writer answered that he was curious why such effort  had been made to mask the identities of those behind Hosting Anime and that an e mail or telephone interview would be fine, "twoeyes" responded, "No thanks. I did not say I wanted to talk to you."

Within a few hours of this Instant Message, a message appeared on the (currently disabled)  Hosting Anime forums saying the service had been sold.

According to a posting (http://forum.uzipp.com/index.php?showuser=438) on another forum from "The Amazing Two Eyed Man," he is also known as Matt A. and is part of the support team for uzipp.com.

Bristol, CT based David Zipp of uzipp.com said he was a little familiar on line with "The Amazing Two Eyed Man" and had communicated with him by Instant Messenger. He said that "two eyes" had asked to help out on a volunteer basis.

Zipp said he believed the individual was young. "I remember asking on line how old he was. If he was going to be helping out, that would be a helpful thing to know."

Zipp said that "twoeyes" had also asked him about his company, how it was running and whether there would be a possibility of buying it. At no point, though, Zipp said, was Hosting Anime or its terror connections mentioned.

Another web site, www.vzeu.com, redirects to one called www.mysmallurl.com.While www.mysmallurl.com (like earlier registration information for Hosting Anime) registers to "Mike Smith" purportedly from Seattle and as mentioned earlier using a false address and telephone number, checking on the registration information for www.vzeu.com takes readers back to www.mysmallurl.com, this time with different registration information.

That site is hosted by a "Matt Kewlies," who gives the same contact e- mail address, mazzarito12@hotmail.com, as "twoeyes."
He also gives a phony address of 2412 Super Court, Yahooville, Ca. 22401.

Also registered to Kewlies is www.animanga.vzeu.com and www.sean.vzeu.com. "Sean's Page," which provides a link to Britain's Liverpool Daily Post and the Liverpool football team web site, gives a non working e-mail address for Sean (annfinnan@eircom.net). It also gives a link to a page hosted by Hosting Anime (www.hostinganime.com/david/donate.html) where readers are invited to send money to "Sean."

The name and address provided for sending donations to "Sean" is David Bannon, Meeltenagh, Edgeworthstown, County Longford, Ireland.

Hosting Anime's "Mike Smith" also hosts a number of other sites that include www.Anime200.com, www.BadAssgamers.com, and www.Giguphosting.com.

An individual reached at the Seattle telephone number listed as a contact for Mike Smith said she had never heard of him and didn't know why her phone number was listed. She confirmed that the address given was for her son's residence, who she said was out of the country.

As to why her telephone number and address had been singled out she said, "I suppose they have to pick on somebody."

In July 2004  a special agent in the Phoenix FBI office said his agency's investigations had led him to conclude Hosting Anime site operators are not involved in the beheadings in any way and that the agency is looking toward the Middle East.

When asked by this writer why the owners of Hosting Anime are repeatedly going out of their way to provide a cluttered trail of false contact information, the agent refused to answer.

He said  that he really couldn't say anything other than that this writer was going down the wrong trail by looking for additional information about the web site operators.

The agent added ominously, "You could end up helping people you don't want to help. You may already have." He refused to clarify what he meant by the statement.

Hosting Anime appears to operate by renting space on the servers of the Houston based Everyone's Internet (EV1), which has hosted sites in the past for groups such as the Hamas.

However, while officials at EV1 were not contacted for this story, they have been  routinely unwilling to answer any questions about the Hosting Anime site operation.

I hope the CIA is tracing the accounts.

No, it's the exact opposite. All evidence we have is that the CIA (or some other govt. agency) was keeping the sites online.

Strangely enough the ISPs said that someone in the U.S. Customs were forcing them to host terrorist sites.

And no, the agency was not keeping them online so they could 'monitor' the IP addresses of people uploading and downloading terror info.  We've talked with admins at ISPs and they said that there was no one even looking at the logfiles, and that in order to gain access to them you'd need a court order.

We can only hope that recent shakeups at the CIA will also result in a change of policy. The intelligence community (an oxymoron) does not understand the role of terrorist propaganda in facilitating terrorism.

Interesting, or perhaps, the plot thickens.

I did notice, last night when cruising some of their links, that quite a few were shut down. Also noticed on some forums there were a lot of "who are you" replies to various posts. Hmmmm.

What was it about this FBI Agent that made you willfully disregard his information and advice?

Maybe they are hosting a "terror-friendly" site to draw in jihadis and jihadi-wannabes?

Should I even post this?

Oops, now I read this post, which debunks my thought.

And wasn't Pheonix the FBI location that noticed the flight training of Arab men?

Don't be so hard on yourself... it doesn't debunk it. Think about it a bit more... :-)
