Brilliant strategy for Democrats- they got Nader to file for the recount so Kerry doesn't have to look like the sore loser. I hope Bush and Rove are paying real close attention.

Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.

This is my favorite part...sure way to turn a red state redder...saddle the voters with a huge bill.

Libertarians=Greens.
'Nuff said.

After Badnarik's commercials attacking GWB and now this, I think it is safe to say that the Libertarians can no longer be considered friends on any level. Those who have libertarian leanings, like many of us do -- myself included -- must now come to realize that the Libertarian Party has become an enemy of their own aspirations.

This is perhaps why the founder of the Libertarian Party denounced Badnarik and implored Libertarians to support Bush in the election. The Libertarians have obviously been hijacked by the radical left.

The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.

Recounts rank right up their with rolling the dice in terms of discovering a "definitive" vote tally. Too many variables. No impact on electors in this one, though.

Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio

BS! What do they think they won? Come on.... What about New Hampshire?

Sorry, I did not see Nader in the article. It is Badnarik and Cobb that are asking for the recount. Is anyone not a D or R the same to you?

So who is going to be charged for this cost especially considering that it is nothing more than a publicity stunt?

If they are going to recount in Ohio, then they should recount in Pennsylvania. The margin was closer there, and the Supreme Court has already ruled that selective recounts are unconstitutional.

"Our bottom line is to stand up for the integrity of the voting process because the voting process is the heart of the democratic process," said Blair Bobier, spokesman for Cobb.

They pulled this in Florida in 2000 and Florida became a whole lot redder this time around. People are sick and tired of sore losers calling into question the integrity of our elections.

This is nothing more than a PR stunt. If the recount vote is off by even 1 vote from the original, the mantra will be that people's votes didn't count, Bush stole the election again, blah, blah.

Election fraud is the MO of the Dem Party. Every big city political machine is controlled by the Dems. Historically, we know that the Daley, Pendergast, Tammany Hall, Hague, et. al. machines have been stealing elections for generations. In Presidential and other statewide elections, the tactic is very simple: Wait until the vote from the rest of the state comes in and then manufacture the votes you need to win.

The Dems used this strategy in this election. Philadelphia, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and other Metro areas provided the margin of victory to capture their respective states. The Dems are fast becoming the urban party, witness the red/blue map by counties. Urban elections translate into massive and widespread fraud.

They don't care if it is overturned, they just want to try and delegitimize Bush . Then they can scream the same BS they did the last 4 years.

Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.

What a putrid lie.

I never want to hear about the noble ideals of Libertarianism again.

EVER.

I've voted for a couple of Libertarians over the years, but never again. I've cut the Libertarians some slack before now, but never again. The only purpose the LP serves is to elect democrats.

Grow your pot. Marry your sister. Build a yurt on five acres of un-zoned. But don't ask to be taken seriously. Whatever good that might have existed in the LP has been completely negated by the rag tag core of the party -- the libertine stoners, the immature losers, the dyspeptic theoreticians, the addled Utopians, the stealth leftists, and the professional trouble makers. Do the country a favor and leave politics to serious people.

A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.

I'd be curious to know exactly from WHOM they received the money to fund it.

No matter, it may even end up like Florida, 2000, with the President getting even MORE votes than they thought he had!!

Brilliant strategy for Democrats

A once per decade event. Now they'll go back to spewing hate, bragging about wanting to raise taxes, and try to make marriage between man and horse legal.

Next-door Pennsylvania was actually closer. Ditto for New Hampshire. But those are NOT going to be recounted. We only recount in jurisdictions where DEMOCRATS might gain votes. Jennings, Brokaw, Brown and Rather say nothing, because God did not see fit to gift them with brains.

An outstanding exercise.

"ensure that all votes were counted properly"

The minimum requirement acceptable.

Unless the reported vote count is 100% accurate, it is unacceptable.

Every vote must count, and be counted.

Any confusion as to what side the libertarians are on now?

If their only reason were to ensure an accurate count, why aren't they pushing for any other state? Why only the state with the electoral number to change the outcome?

Even Kerry has intimated that the election is not really over until Ohio is recounted and certified. He, like the rest of the crazy dems, is probably holding onto the hope that their vote fraud will still be able to overcome the 130000+ difference.
