AWARD-SHOW STABBING
New York Post ^ | 11/16/04 | GERSH KUNTZMAN and PAULA FROELICH

Pandemonium broke out during the taping of Vibe magazine's award show last night, when a man was stabbed during the ceremony, sending stars fleeing from the mayhem in their limos.

The violence broke out as rapper Dr. Dre rose to accept the Vibe Legend Award from presenters Quincy Jones and Snoop Dogg, a witness at the Santa Monica event told The Post.

An unidentified man sitting with Death Row Records chief Marion "Suge" Knight lunged toward Dr. Dre with a knife — but members of rapper 50 Cent's entourage intervened, the witness said.

The witness said that the production, co-hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks and rapper L.L. Cool J — was immediately shut down and celebrities were spirited out of the ceremonies, being held at Santa Monica Airport's Barker Hanger.

"It was pure panic," the witness said. "I never saw anything like it. Those cars were flying out of here. Russell Simmons ran out of here crying."

Another witness told MTV that Knight had run onto the stage, screaming obscenities at the audience of about 1,000. Several people in the crowd were pepper-sprayed, the network reported.

John Kerry immediately released a statement, praising the attendees of The Vibe Awards as the "heart and soul of America."

It's not so much "tough love", in my opinion, just common sense. And the question posed before "Do the kids not have fathers?", is what I ask also, but in plural, "Do they not have PARENTS???". Well, what about MY situation? How did little Johnny end up steering down this hershey highway paved by the "heros" of rap??

When he was 14 he just HAD to get an earring. I had been telling him "NO!!" for a couple years. But mommy thought, Why not?? It's just a current fad, current fashion. So one day he and mommy come home and he's ecstatic to show me his new crown jewel - an EARRING!!! How lovely. Next step is he's GOT to have a tattoo. Eveyone else (who's REALLY cool) has one or more. I tell him negetive to that also. Mommy thinks I am being red-neckish, old fashioned, too militaristic (I've never been in the service, and I don't dispise those men who have earrings, nor the men & women who choose to have their bodies inked up - I just think it's a waste of time & money, and to me looks like trailer trash). So while on vacation in Mexico last summer, my wife tells me he won't take off his shirt because he thinks I'll be mad when I see he decided to get a tattoo on his back, from shoulder to shoulder, a tattoo of our last name (his mother and I married when he was 7, I adopted him). Yes, I tried to explain WHY I say no to this stuff, but he is as mentally stubborn as a jackass. Anyway, in the last 18 months he's been asking me if he can get a barbell (stud) piercing on his eyebrow. Again I tell him he can put a 4 foot barbell thru his penis if he
wants to, AFTER he moves out. So far, no stupid barbells. But lordy, does he look "pimpin" with the gold chain around his neck (JUST like all the gangsta's), the huge gold rings on almost every finger, and so on ... And the car I financed for him (he's making the pmts), last weekend he gets the windows tinted so dark you can't see in, even the windshield, which I've told him is illegal. Made him take the windshield tint off, but he pisses & moans about it. And the seat backs reclined so far back, it's like a bed - just like the peeps. So now I am dealing with mommy's emotions & her wanting to invite him back. I would like to see that whole sub-culture shipped off to Jihad-land. Let THEM die for our freedoms, which all they can do is bitch about being infringed on.

Well, I could go on and on, but I'd rather laugh reading posts on our Islamis jihaddy neighbors with their incredible grasp on common sense. Thanks for your ears - I owe you an Ann Landers consultation fee...

This is just the beginning, folks. Wait until the next Academy Award ceremony when Michael Moore-on spots a Conservative in the audience. That will make this little fiasco look like chump change.

PEACE!....lol

Seriously. Saw Jughead gut a man like a fish once, over a coke deal gone sour. Stone cold, home slice. :)

I saw that when VH1 did "The Archies - Behind the Music."

You can take 'em outa the jungle but you can't get the jungle outa them.

Whatever gave you the impression that they have been taken out?

"Welcome to the jungle

It gets worse here every day"

I would be embarassed to have someone in my family act or dress like that. I've always thought that boys who do this (baggy pants, acting like rappers, etc) either have a weak father figure or no father at all. Just my observation, nothing against the mothers. I know it's very difficult to raise a child on your own, but I have found that young boys are lost when they don't have a father.

Go to bed with dogs, get up with fleas. This element is what brings dishonor on all blacks and is what Bill Cosby has been preaching against.

Few contemporary reviewers picked up on the sinister undertones of songs like "Sugar, sugar..."

We lived about 40 miles north of Philly - mostly white area - 1800 kids in the high school, 10 were black.

My observation was that the lower income white kids were the ones who dressed like the inner city - the baggy pants and oversized jerseys - funny as hell to watch these white kids pretend to be from "the hood".......... climbing out of Mom's Van or SUV...........

One outsiders opinion: Your wife is trying to be her son's friend, instead of his Mom - she wants to be cool......... now she has to face the consequences of those actions. Looks like you are having to fight both of them.......... good luck to your family
