What age is that appropriate for?

I'll wait until it is free on TV. I'm glad you liked it, but it sounds like most people think its a dud.

What sort of work did you do on the movie?

You are very angry person that transcends Tom Hanks and politics.

ROFL.

Yeah, I guess we're all supposed to watch Passion of the Christ on continuous loop and only listen to Toby Keith albums, according to those types.

Zemeckis is hit or miss with me.
I'll catch this one on DVD.

Get the book, gather a group a kids at your feet, and read it to them. Better than the movie any day. There is a school, day care, or neighbor family near you if you do not have kids handy. Far better use of 2 hours.

I read this to 3rd graders last year, and it was a wonderful experience!

You are still at it huh? Man, why are you so angry and bitter?
Go to the movie, you might get rid of that inner scrooge.

305 million to make, distribute and market? How can anyone make a sensible business case for such an investment? It was doomed to be a flop with such over-the-top costs. My daughter and I went to see it and she liked the movie, but come on, did they think this would top Star Wars or Spiderman?

Have you seen "The Incredibles"? I'm wondering how it compares to "The Polar Express". My family loved "The Incredibles". My kids ranked it right up with the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies.

I'm beginning to miss realism in children's movies. Toy Story, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo notwithstanding, I would rather take my children to a Christmas classic that isn't animated. There's too much of it out there now, and no matter what one may say, you can't get true human emotion, especially that of a child's, through an animated face. There's no match for the face of a real child to touch the heart.

I liked the animated version of The Grinch who Stole Christmas, but the Jim Carrey version totally stunk. The Cat in the Hat movie also smelled like a litterbox. Sometimes a great book does not turn into a great movie, even with tons of money and talent.

Yeah...painted everything in the bedroom and living room...Chris' clothes, Santa's clothes, the engineers, and a bunch of other stuff.
It really bothers me when people trash something they haven't even seen and know nothing about. We should be happy Hollywood is putting out family films like this. We should do everything in our power to promote family films like this so they will keep making them.
Some people on this thread have to always have something to complain about (and you know who you are!!!) I'm sorry they are so unhappy. They should get in the spirit of Christmas or the ghost of Christmas past, present and future will come to visit the scrooges!

OMG I loved Jim Carrey as the Grinch! I can't tell you how many times we've watched it. Now the cat in the hat, I hated that story. Is prolly the only Dr.Suess that I can't stand, it was sooooo boring.

I rented "The Alamo" even though I had "heard" that it stunk. I liked it and it is on the "to buy" list when the price drops to $10.00 or less. I will buy "Polar Express" when it comes out on DVD. I like animation and it looks like they did a good job on it.

I usually skip going to the theaters because why pay $7.50 - $9.50 to see a movie when you can purchase the good ones for about $15 - $17 or rent from netflix for about $2 - $3 on average depending on how fast you return them.

"Everyone who has actually SEEN the film on the thread thinks it's great.

Everyone who hasn't actually seen the film thinks it's terrible. "

So that tells me that their marketing sucks.

I took my 4 and 8 year olds to see it this weekend. They loved it. I wanted to stay home and watch the Aurburn/Gerogia game but I had promised my wife to take them. Didn't think I'd like it but it was very, very good.

Made it to a restaurant with 15 minutes left in the game. Sat by the tv!
