I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.
JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.
I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.
Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.
That charge is a lie.
The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.
Probably doesn't have two nickels to rub together; which, is the best defense for this kind of thing I'd think.
After all, can't get blood outa a turnip, can ya?
I'd think given what Bannon's told us about his [financial] situation he'd be in a splendid position to suck this sucker's defense funds *dry* on their way to a net zero *payday*.
But what do I know.
"actually, this thread brings up a good concept - some kind of FR legal defense fund. not directly staffed, but maybe a cooperative effort with some of the existing conservative legal defense organizations out there, with contributions raised as part of the normal (perhaps expanded) FR freepathons. not sure of the implications of something like that for FR."
I can't speak for the Old Man, but if I had to guess I'd say he'd want nothing to do with this *or* sheisters after his last experience.
Weren't around when what I'm talking about happened, you say?
Ping 'em & ask him about one Brian Buckley.
That's all it'd take.
...& if ya smell ozone, *duck*. :o)
A check will be put into the mail AM tomorrow. Good luck, buddy.
Now you know wh I have been quiet. I could not aford to get assaulted again or get in trouble!
Plus, I am growing out of this stuff, activism takes it's toll
you wrote: It sounds as though there is a possibility that RB was set up. I wondered about that already.
That was exactly my impression at the time. And we didn't know about the lawsuit. We did see the picture in the paper the next day though. I thought the message was not a lawsuit but just trying to goad our side into a violent reaction. He didn't get it.
I salute whatever you can give...A thousand FReepers giving $10 bucks can make a major dent in the side of those who would limit FReepers exercising their right of free speech and exercising their right to keep wankers off their truck.
Easy: to pick up something (a situation wherewith a complaint could be lodged) to save for a rainy day.
Exactly what date was the suit filed?
Yep, we saw that effect on Nov. 2nd, didn't we? : )
Nutmeg, since you were a witness to this incidence, did you testify on behalf of RaceBannon, if so....God bless you; if not......Why Not? Since this trial is still ongoing, why don't you contact Race and let him know you are willing to testify on his behalf.
oh, man
Do a google search on this guy:
"Boise Kimber"
Then, do a search on the New Haven Register website for him in the last year.
Don't go bankrupt paying legal bills. Save bankruptcy in case you lose the case.
That is entirely a possibility .. especially with the the Skeeryaddicts turning to professional mental health counselors to recover from the blow they endured. It all comes down to prudent, unbiased judges. Put that case before an activist, leftleaning judge and boom, you got yourself a case and a trial and a whole lot of grief.
This is not compensation for services, nor a prize. If I buy Race lunch because I like him, that's not income to him. What's different about these small, gratuitous donations?
Because the elements of a claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress require certain types of activity be proved, and it usually has to involve some type of outrageous conduct and be accompanied by a physical manifestation of an injury. Also, the conduct normally has to be directed at a particular individual or group.
In other words, that's the kind of claim you could easily get dismissed on legal grounds.
Ummm... that sure looks like a ZOT....
Hey Nutmeg - thanks for all your Pings! I also remember we had the best signs! Freepers are a clever bunch! Theirs were all copies. And when their bussed in crowds left, they left the signs all over Lieberman's lawn. Remember we went and cleaned up their garbage too! It was a GREAT day and the comeraderie was wonderful!
Semper Fi, Ma'am!

I was there that day. I have pictures from the other side of the street of Tom Scott talking. I do not have pictures of the event because it was over with too fast. Kimber took a running leap into the truck with the biggest grin imaginable on his face (as you can see in the picture).
Right in front of me, on the other side of the street, was this youngish girl also with a big smile, milling around among our group (we had seen her earlier with the other crowd) getting into position to take the picture that appeared in the paper the next morning! He did look like he might be causing trouble. He certainly had no business getting into the truck.
Earlier in the day at the demonstration, he walked up and down the street with a bullhorn exhorting the libs and telling them what to say. They were pretty lame until he came. It happened exactly as RaceBannon has told it.
you are on retainer!
