Starting today, 290 of the nation's Catholic bishops will meet at the Capitol Hyatt for their yearly business meeting[...]
Although it's been less than a year since the church revealed that there were 10,667 cases of abuse committed by 4,392 priests in a 50-year period, the message at the meeting will be that the crisis is under control.
But it's far from over, says a local Catholic priest who says the true source of the crisis is a priesthood that is "honeycombed" with homosexual clerics, especially in the Diocese of Arlington.
However, attempts by the Rev. James Haley, 48, to persuade his bishop of the problem have backfired. After hearing from the priest about numerous instances of homosexual activity among diocesan clergy, Arlington Bishop Paul Loverde ordered the priest silenced Oct. 23, 2001. This "precept of silence" — usually only employed during church trial proceedings — is rarely used to silence a whistleblower.
Thus, in the past three years, Father Haley's case, which also involves accusations of sexual misconduct against him, has become a cause celebre among many Catholics in the Diocese of Arlington.

Father Haley says his only crime is his insistence that homosexual priests, not solely pedophiles, are at the root of the sexual-abuse crisis. The Catholic priesthood is demoralized, he says, by groups of homosexual clerics who control who gets admitted to seminary, which men get nominated for bishop and which priests get the plum parishes.
Based on his 17 years in the priesthood, he estimates that 60 percent of the Diocese of Arlington's 127 diocesan priests are homosexuals, which is high compared with national estimates of 30 percent to 50 percent from other authorities on the priesthood. [...]

Late to the thread on my part, but there are most definitely homosexuals in nun circles. There are some extremely pious and devout orders, but others are WAY WAY out there....
This is a top-to-bottom problem. It's the fruit of "tolerance" gone FUBAR.
There was a book out several years ago called "Lesbian Nuns" in which current and former nuns discussed the reasons for going into the convent (felt more comfortable around only women) and their introduction to lesbianism by other nuns. Scary book!

The liberal feminist nuns are retiring and dying out; their orders are not getting new vocations, so there are fewer of them to sit on Boards of Review to winnow out faithful Catholic young men who wanted to be priests, but whose 'outmoded ideas', like celibacy, and devotions, didn't fit their modernist agenda. I know of one Seminary in the South that had gotten so bad that the new younger Bishop wouldn't even send his candidates there until he'd had a chance to make some changes.
Unless the Bishops demand change, the Seminaries won't change.
And thats the ones that know about..

The Latin Roman Catholic Church remains the One True Faith residing within His Most Sacred Heart. It is both the holy receptacle and defender of His Sacred Dogma, forever and ever.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
I believe you couldn't be more wrong about the Pope. And there is not an evil grip by homosexuals on the entire Roman Catholic Church in America. There are some Seminaries who went over the falls, but are now being pulled back back by new Bishops. Many Bishops, in the late 60s and the 70s were enthralled by the new 'Spirit of Vatican II", and allowed the liberals in their Dioceses to go too far. In this climate, and in the spirit of diversity, they also allowed feminists to have a say in who became priests. This allowed some homosexuals to get into the priesthood, but they are not the majority of all priests in this country. I don't believe I've ever known a priest who was homosexual, or even seemed to be, and I've known quite a few priests having lived in five different states and attended at least 8 different parishes in various towns within them.
