FOX is saying that he was driven to the hospital, not ambulanced.

Thank goodness, at least we were saved the spectacle
of John Edwards chasing after him waving a power of attorney.

I understand the roll of Dr Rosenfeld (?sp) for FOX News. But he should have left it at:

"It could simply mean he has a cold. Because of his cardiac history, coupled with the fact that he is the Vice President if the United States, there are conditions which needed to be ruled out.

Any discussion beyond this is futile and needlessly alarming. The prudent thing to do is wait until we have some definitive results from his exam."

Period.

If I have a cold this time of year and have some chest pain, I would call the doctor, he would ask me questions, and on the basis of my answers could very well call me in a prescription with instructions to call him in a day or two if I do not feel any better. But I am not the VP.

Talking about bloot clots in the leg, pulmonary embolisms, etc is very premature and needlessly alarming at this point. How many pulled up an image of David Bloom? It is not a game of who guess correctly.

My advice is wait (hard, I know) and know what we are dealing with.

I just wish after that long hard campaign he had not gone on the pheasant shoot I am certain that is where he will have caught that cold or made it worse but I suppose he is like most men stubborn and insisted. Also that is what makes Cheney Cheney he is prudent about his health in one way but will live his life to full and never complains about his health or allows it to rule his life.

Yeah, after checking your post I also took a look at the DU thread. The Ghouls are having a field day. Someone should send the whole thread from the DU to Hannity or someone else in the MSM to show all Americans, especially Christian Democrats, just how low their party can go. I realize that not all DUers will post on that thread for fear of being zotted, but I read every post and not a single voice of dissent to the ghoulish hatefullness. I know hatefull posts, in this type of circumstance, pop up on freerepublic but they are, in the very least, balanced by respectfull, reasonable posts. I guess its just further evidence of DUer mentality.

If the worst were to happen does that mean Dennis Hastert becomes second in line to the Presidency until the VP vacancy is filled?

Yep, I heard too that he was driven by car. That's a lot better news. Hope he's doing OK.

--Dr. Rosenfeld, on Fox, just mentioned congestion in the lungs and heart failure: very possible congestive heart failure.--

And Dr. Rosenfeld has no more knowledge of what is wrong with the Vice President than you or I. Why do you pass on rumours as though they were fact? This isnt the USSR. A bad cold may in fact really be a bad cold. I've had shortness of breath any number of times and they had nothing to do with heart trouble.

I believe his home is near the hospital. It was probably faster than calling 911.

Sorry that should be first in line to the Presidency. Hastert is already second in line right now.

CHENEY TO HOSPITAL [Jonah Goldberg]

With shortness of breath. This is all that's on FoxNews.com right now:

Vice President Dick Cheney (search) was taken to a hospital on Saturday after he complained of shortness of breath.

"On the recommendation of his doctors, the vice president is going to George Washington University Hospital (search) for some tests," spokesman Ken Lisaius said. "He experienced some shortness of breath Saturday morning and has had a bad cold, which could be the cause for the shortness of breath."

The vice president, 63, has had four heart attacks (search) and several surgeries for cardiac ailments.

President Bush was notified, Lisaius said.

Cheney's cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, was to oversee the tests.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Will do. I posted a short article on this thread shortly before my #274 update here.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1279184/posts?page=274#274

Repost that:

The reports are that he had a cold and it may just be that causing his shortness of breath.

He has a pacemaker, so that is good.

FOX is saying that he was driven to the hospital, not ambulanced.

He went at the suggestion of his personal physician.

Firstly, prayers for the VP, who I have come to admire and respect immensely.

Secondly, I don't know about the rest of you Freepers, but my tolerance levels for the wacko left are running a bit ragged, in fact, they are starting to seriously p*ss me off. Seeing those comments from DU on this thread just makes my blood boil. Regardless if you agree with his politics or not, VP Cheney is a decent and principled man, who has sacrificed boatloads to serve this country.

No more civilized debates about how to make the left feel better about being a bunch of losers, no more please come to the party crap with Europe, no more nodding at the UN, no more play nicely with the Arabs. Please!

G-d forbid anything happens to Cheney. If it does happen, however, pray that it happens after Dec. 13th, not before. If it happens after that date, then Bush simply nominates a replacement to be confirmed by majority vote of Congress.

If it happens before that date, the rules are unclear, but by precedent John Edwards would become VP. The Senate would almost certainly act to prevent that, which would cause a minor Constitutional crisis. To prevent that, some of Cheney's electors might decide to vote for a different candidate, which throws everything into chaos.
