Rush off his game
Rush Limbaugh | NathanBedford

Posted on 11/09/2004 11:24:52 AM PST by nathanbedford

Rush is floundering. He cannot find and hold a position on Specter and sounds utterly incoherent. This post is to counter Rush's rare defalcation and remind his listeners of the importance of acting now to eliminate Senator Specter before he assumes the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and does great mischief to any pro-life nominee.

We do not need another Borking of a good and honest nominee by this unprincipled and mercurial RINO.

Bork Specter.

There was a big difference between Laura Ingraham and Rush today.

Agreed. It's the difference between a fine wine and a flat beer, and Rush isn't the wine.

I disagree with your optimistic assessment of the President's power to control the Senate and so posted:

Senator Arlen Specter PULLING WOOL OVER GOP

The senate works on the committee system. Senators get their power from this system. Senators who have power from the system are not surprisingly reluctant to undermine the system.

It is the chairman who sets the tone, gets to go on Meet the Press along with his ranking collegue, and tell the nation what to think about the nominee. All it would take from Specter is a little body language directed at the camera betraying lack of enthusiasm for a nominee and the game is over.

You either stop Specter now or risk a terrible forfeit later.

This is Senate civics lesson 101.

May I suggest you read Master of The Senate, the great biography of Lyndon Johnson, it describes how the gang works

This will be like peeing up a rope or a goat-roping.

Specter ain't perfect. Do we really want another guy crossing the aisle? If he does, it'll look like we spent a lot of time going after a very, very small fish.

Bigger items are in the offing.

Next!

The 'radicals' calling for Specters head would have us purging all "RINO"s from the camp and leaving us with a minority in the Senate and Congress.

He had just better understand that he, Bush, will be held responsible for what Specter does, because Specter wouldn't be there without the intervention of Bush and Rove.

I fear that it will be another 30 million unborn who will be "held responsible."

Nobody gave Specter a mandate, Bush got it.

I think, you, I and Specter know that if he screws with the Bull, he gets the horns in this case. RECALL!

At least we avoided justice Hillary Clinton, had Kerry won, she would have had no 2008 chance and the chances of a Justice Hillary were good.

I'm really pissed at Specter, but no one is going to stop Bush from putting his people on the court. He's going to nominate an Hispanic, and the Dems will be scared to death about voting against him, or even criticizing him after what the Hispanics did to them in this last election.

I suggest that we start with Gonzales, then maybe Martinez, then go back to Estrada. The Dems blocked Estrada from serving on the DC Circuit because they were afraid it would be a springboard to the Supreme Court. Make them pay by appointing him to the Supreme Court anyway.

"Hopefully this won't block Justice Ashcroft!"

That'll never happen without the support of the ACU, which got him into the AG position in the first place. After the PATRIOT Act, TIA, CAPPS II, etc, the ACU will never support him for a SCOTUS appointment.

I have a problem with Sean, Rush, and Laura when they stray from topics of interest to talk about matters concerning themselves. They often seem to think listeners are "groupies" huddled around the radio who just can't wait to hear about where they are speaking after the program, what very important event they are scheduled to attend, and how busy their lives are.

There was a time when "polite society" regarded such unabashed ego-centrism as boorish. Some of us think of it that way..

Kudos to Michael Medved who stays focused, deals with issues, genuinely respects the audience, and makes an effort to avoid "me-itis".

I have said before that if it were Toomey v. Specter, I'd go Specter.

I don't think you've recovered enough.

Exactly, if anything, Specter's wants are out of line with the voters. Well, except his, I guess.

Why the heck do these lifetime politicians (all over the nation) keep getting elected?

I happen to agree. Ashcroft is headed back to Missouri because of his health and probably has had a bellyfull of Washington.
Specter is absolutely not trustworthy but neither was Bork, who was not a friend of the RKBA, so I don't think his services on the High court were missed all that much.
