Swift Boat Veterans pleased ad campaign paid off, says a local organizer of effort

Its mission accomplished, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has essentially dissolved.

"I don't think there is any doubt that we succeeded," said retired Rear Adm. Roy F. Hoffmann, who helped start the organization from the den of his Chesterfield County home then saw it grow into a national movement.

Like just about everyone else, Hoffmann said "I stayed up all night" watching the election returns that denied John Kerry the presidency.

That was the organization's goal - to prevent Kerry from being "commander in chief," Hoffmann said.

Great job Swifties. The best money I ever spent was to the Swifties and to Senator elect Thune.

Like the American heroes before them who liberated Europe in World War II, these fellas did their duty, then quietly went back to their farms, their families, their civilian lives. No glorious parades. No sharing in the spoils. Just a quiet sense that liberty was secured for a season.

Funny. As I'm sitting here reading your comment about O'Donnell, Laura Ingraham starts talking about him and his outbursts on the radio.

The SWIFTvets exposed more than Kerry's fictitous Vietnam record. They also exposed O'Donnell, Bill O'Reilly, and a whole host of MSM commentators as partisan hacks.

I donated to the SWIFTvets three times, and those were the most satisfying contributions I've ever made.

God Bless the Swift Boat Vets! We can't thank them enough for getting the truth out there about FnKerry.

Kinda like an old spaghetti western, the villian is vanquished and Clint Eastwood rides his horse slowly into the distance as the credits roll.

I’m going to put on an old Ennio Morricone CD.

Sounds like a FReeper after my own heart...I am a "soundtrack" dude, and a 25 year musician. John Williams is my living favorite, with honorary mention going to a host of others.

In addition to the speculation above, threads over the weekend told of Kerry "buying off" of those swift boat vets, that so called "band of brothers" that were touted at the DNC convention. We didn't see anything of them after July. Here are the links to those threads:

This nation does indeed owe the Swiftboat Vets its gratitude yet again. God bless them.

They are certainly entitled to do whatever they choose. I, for one, would like to see an effort made to continue to pursue Kerry's records. I don't believe the man should hold the office of senator or be allowed to ever consider running for the presidency again.

Now that's a holiday I'll celebrate. Perhaps we could replace MLK day?

To the Swiftvets: Congratulations, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

As soon as I saw their first ad, I knew they were the one group that was going to make the real difference in this campaign and decided to make all my remaining political contributions to them, save one contribution to the NRA PVF. They ended up receiving $500 from me, the best $500 I've ever spent.

I had not really thought about that. You are correct.

Agree. That pathological liar should be dogged relentlessly until he is forced to leave public "service".

We still owe the Swiftees something. They served twice. The least we can do is help vindicate them after the MSM slandered them to cover for the fraud, Kerry. We need to keep up the pressure for the media to investigate Kery honestly. Please see the link below.

A Matter of Honor

OD'd really affected me. His performance on Scarborough was absolutely the worst kind of New-Age fascism I have ever seen. I simply cannot stand to see him in any media role and, after many years of watching McLaughlin, I've decided to eliminate it from my schedule. I hope the Scarborough meltdown and other outbursts by OD'd are not forgotten and he is forced to acknowledge his outrageous behavior. Nothing less will do IMO.

A sincere thank you to the swifties. This election cycle my wife and I donated all our presidential campaign money to you guys. God Bless you and your families. May you find satisfaction in knowing that most of the country found John Kerry unfit for command.

I'm sorry to hear you'll disband. I'd prefer you to run Kerry out of the senate before resuming your lives. ( It just goes to show that you Viet Nam vets are not as vindictive as some others).

Thank you Swifties! You sought neither personal recognition nor fame, only to see that justice was served. The country is in your debt that can not be repaid...twice now counting your heroics and service in SE Asia. You bleed red, white, and blue; and I for one would have been honored to serve with you!

Mark

I agree with you. I thought they were going to continue the fight. I do, however, understand the "battle fatigue." They did a splendid job and I along with millions of others, are grateful.
