~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~
ArmyPatch small   NavySeal small   Air Force Seal   Marines Seal small   Coast Guard Seal small (better)

The military seems to have a language of its own, with many terms, acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world."

What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word.

What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately.

What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word.

What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above.

Want to know what  they are talking about?  Read on...

Sleep well, Lj. You need healing rest, especially after the exertion of rescuing a creature from your 4 footed pals.

So far I've had to 'euthanise' as well as remove three bats.
One I picked up while wearing thick work gloves, which batty really did not like, and moved him outdoors somewhere.
(He was sleeping in a corner and I rudely woke him up.)

Number two was sick and I had to do the glove thing again and send him off with a pellet gun.

Number three was sick, on the ground, and hyper-aggressive, and I had to pellet gun him as well.
Couldn't use my .22lr, it's a ruger 10/22 and is way louder than it should be.

My father's cat brought me a vole about a week ago.
I had to dispose of it.
(NiMH cat seems to think I'm a funny looking, if defective, cat and must be taught to hunt.)

No experience with bats, but I am the recipient of the occasional vole or mouse. Rarely in bad shape, but I think more scared to death, or played with until demise.
