Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.
We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.
We tell FReepers in the states in question to start thinking about who should run for us in those potentially competitive races, and to contact potential candidates. We also need to stay abreast of the possible Senate primaries in order to ensure that we end up nominating our best candidate.
1) Mary landreu of Louisiana. She said she would support the president's judicial nominees but that was a lie. I think that there is a good chance that we can Dashcle her.
2) Target the remaining Dems in the South.
2. Is there any hard evidence that Nelson is considering jumping to the GOP in Nebraska. And is he someone we would want?
How about Mel Gibson?
Limit myself to only three?????
How about any pubbie who signed off on or voted for any one or more of the following:
"No child left behind" (NOWHERE is FedGov authorized to be involved in education)
The prescription drug act (ditto for meds or medical care)
The TORRENT of spending NOT SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZED in and by the Constitution,,, which accounts for probably 2/3 of the federal budget...
(how much more do you need???)
So in otherwords, like most "PaeloConservatives", you don't realy have any specfics just they usual "We-Hate-Everyone" rant. Sorry, that is NOT a platform to govern on.
I don't see Santorum having any problems. It may be a blue state, but it is a mild blue state and Santorum is in a leadership position.
Any prospective challengers will have a better shot at waiting another 4 years and taking a possible open seat

Here! Here! There is not enough being said or done about this on this forum. I suspect the resident libertarians are more concerned about their privacy than eliminating voter fraud- yes, the same ones who were decrying the Patriot Act.
Actually, I believe that the Constitution for the United States is PLENTY enough platform for what little governance we require. Since well over 90 percent of what FedGov does is outside its lawful charter, I have no doubt it would not be missed by most Americans. The beneficiaries of FedGov's plunder will, no doubt, howl and whine, but so f'ing what. They can deal with it and find another way to get by. If this includes you, I shouldn't wonder that you try hanging the "paleo," everybody-hater label on someone who isn't included. Poor you.
I don't recommend heavy out-of-state targeting of Jeffords. That will piss Vermonters off enough to vote for him. They don't like "flatlanders" messing in their elections.
Awhile ago a Massachusetts Republican named Jack McMullen moved up here to run against Pat Leahy for Senate.
People were so incensed about his "carpetbagging" that in the primary they voted for an 80 year old dairy farmer named Fred Tuttle who ran as a joke (promo for the "A Man with A Plan" movie) instead. Tuttle won with about 80% of the vote.
Even the non-left Vermonters are stubborn as rocks. If they sense out-of-state interference all hell will break loose.

One thing we can do now is start lining up new mid-term voters. The election is still fresh in everybody's mind. If you run across someone who voted for the first time or only votes in Presidential elections, work on getting them to see the importance of giving President Bush a Senate that will work with him.
Set a goal for yourself of 10, 15, 25 or 50 new midterm voters. Don't badger them, but every couple of months let them know how important it is to vote every election. When even a small election is coming up, remind them of the issues and to vote. Soon they will become faithful and involved voters.
Just a little anecdote. My husband works with a 25 year old and they drive to jobs with each other often. My husband would put on Laura Ingraham's radio show. The kid was soaking it all in, but wanted to hear the other side. So they switched over to Air America. Even a mostly uninformed non voting kid knew it was crap. He voted his first time for BUSH.
hmmmm... i guess in smaller states it is more noticable when an out-of-towner comes in. Maybe we can just support whoever is nominated there with out of state donations? I am sure Jumpin' jim or wheover the Dems nominate will get some too.
