Which Dem Senators should we target for defeat in 2006? (Vanity)

Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.

We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.

I agree, but as it is now, provisional ballots are handed out like candy in some areas, with no proof of I.D. of any kind. At least if there were some proof required it would cut DOWN on the number of illegal votes, and if some way to track, with social security, or a voter registration number, or a photo copy of the I.D., at least we could maybe catch some of them, and put em in jail!

A person that is given a some of a kind registration number, if there is no such number registered, easy to throw it out. Different numbers for each county, etc. would cut down on fraudulent numbers, etc.....

I just think something should be put in place, there will always be some who will try to beat the system, but as it is now, it's a joke in some areas.

You've got the right list but I disagree with you on Nelson in Nebraska. Instead, have 2-term Congressman Tom Osborn run for the US Senate and then put another solid Nebraska Republican (remember no blue counties) into the 3rd Congressional District.

Additionally, you nationalize the US Senate Campaign and specifically target the Mid-America Ag States. Iowa, Montana, Nebraska and North Dakota all went for Bush with a combined vote percentage of about 65% for Bush. Track every single Senate vote that hurts the President and then purge the remaining Roosevelt Democrats. It's time for a change.

On sixteen occasions prior to the ratification of the 25th amendment, the office of Vice President was left vacant due to death, resignation (in the case of Vice President Calhoun in 1832), or succession to the presidency. The ratification of the 25th amendment in 1967 calls for the President to nominate a Vice President in the event of a vacancy, "who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress."

There's no time. IF Hillary is the RATS nominee for 2008, then putting Condi in as the Republican pick will throw the RATS into total disarray. First and foremost she is already supremely qualified, and a DAMN sight smarter than Hillary (I'd love to watch those debates!). But she needs some seasoning. The VP slot would give her that in short order. Especially if GW gives her some room to operate and be seen doing so. There is plenty of precedent for doing this.

The Senators we should target:

1. Mark Dayton. He's a weak incumbent who only got elected by defeating another weak incumbent, he looks like a weenie for closing down his DC office, and we have a perfect opponent in Mark Kennedy.

2. Debbie Stabenow. Barely won in 2000 against a weak incumbent, two perfect opponents in Mike Rogers or Candice Miller in waiting.

3. Maria Cantwell. Freshman who used a personal fortune to win in 2000. The tech stock she owned fell, she may not be able to fund her own campaign again. The question is who do we run?

4. Ben Nelson. As conservative as Nebraska is, and given Nelson's slim winning margin against a mediocre opponent, this seat is in play if we run a capable candidate.

5. Bill Nelson. If Jeb Bush runs, we can win. Otherwise, it will be uphill. If Katherine Harris runs, she'll get clobbered.

6. Hitlery Clinton. If Giulini runs he has the edge. If not, she'll win easily unfortunately.

Other seats could open up depending on retirements. Most of them, however, would start with a slight advantage to the Democrats, as most of the remaining Democratic seats are in Kerry states.

As for Hillary, I'd be genuinely surprised if she's get a Dem nomination. She's WAY too controversial. Too many people hate her guts.
