Which Dem Senators should we target for defeat in 2006? (Vanity)

Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.

We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.

Debbie Stabenow in MI(John Engler perhaps?)

Instead of Engler, how about Ted Nugent.

I respectfully disagree. With the right candidate and an effective campaign she can lose. It may not be easy but I think it can be accomplished. Did you see that map of NY for the election? Lots of Red in that blue.

Maybe but if the RNC and others help, and someone is chosen who can run an effective campaign, it can be done. We have a somewhat Republican Governor and Republican Mayor. We use to have a Republican Senator. It's not unattainable.

Last time they threw Lazio in at last minute and they let him fend for himself. There has to be some real challenge here. Hillary did a listening campaign so she didn't have to defend her policies or even present them.

I was hoping to get rid of Feingold this year. Wish there had been a better opponent. I don't know if Scott Walker is sufficiently well known to win against Kohl. If what you say about Kohl is the case then he may be ripe for the picking and Walker could win. Kohl should be a target for sure though. I live in Racine County and we did go for Bush but I believe they also went for Feingold. As far as election reform in the state goes though until we get rid of Doyle we may be out of luck. The Assembly and Senate voted for reform and he vetoed it. Until we get reform I believe voting fraud is going to be the law of the land in Wisconsin.

If Byed retires...you might get a GOP pick up, especially if the economy and Iraq are doing well by that time..The GOP candidate who just lost for governor..he might well come back in the Senate race..I don't think Nelson in Fl will run again..it'd be a tough, ahrd, race, no giuartantees, and even if he wins..what does he get..another 6 years in the minority, fighting over SC appts..that's NOT fun..assume he retires..then you'll get Alycee Hastings for the dems,a nd a long list of Pubbies..a GOP pick-up..Dayton is toast..he ran away from DC, remember.. state is trendign GOP, despite going for Kery this time..Palwenty and Lieberman won in 2002..could be a GOP gain..

again..what's important here is the TREND is for the GOP..none of the GOP sneators , nor their seats, are at risk..

Al Franken announced on Letterman last night that he is running in '06 in Minnesota.
We must do everything possible to prevent that left of liberal nutjob from gaining office!

Franken and Dayton will split the whack-o vote, thus allowing an easy Repub victory.

Seriesly, the unfunny one would not win in the primary, and would have little chance as an independent.

TX Hutchison, Kay Baily (R)

I liked her until the past few nights I saw her on FNC. She said "We should reach out to the Democrats."

I say, the dems can eat **** and die.

THEY LOST!

THEY CAN REACH OUT TO THE REPUBLICANS!!

Alaska was well ahead of the game. Passed the amendment in 1998.

How about targeting anyone, regardless of party label, who does not STRICTLY adhere to the Constitution for the United States, without considering it a "living" document... or is it OK to exempt Pubbies who wipe their butts with it?

That would rule, actually. Any chance of that ever happening?

IMO, Tim's campaign was in the hands of apparatchiks and was very uncreative. I was disappointed, as well. I am in the SW and the GOP here was apathetic, would not participate in the campaign or GOTV and still sent 2 conservatives to Madison: Kapanke and Nerison.

FWIW, I have been told by someone who used to work in DC that Kohl is known to grope attractive young male staffers. However, I see no media allusions to that or to his constant vacationing in WY. He and Finegold win, IMO, because of name recognition. Finegold did no campaigning here, except for a fundraiser in a private home.

Walker, of course, needs to spend the next year or so becoming well-known. I do not see that happening, even with the fraud in Milwaukee County, which was tailor-made for some good PR, if we only had an unbiased press in WI.

I think the election reform is going to be national/Federal.
I was glad to see advanced required registration w/ID and the election workers made it clear this was Federal law. I know of a case where an absentee ballot was witnessed by a relative running for office. This was thrown out and would not have been in an urban area, IMO, but here, the names stood out to the ballot checkers. I would like to see both parties limit absentees to people who are housebound or would be traveling or are expats/military.

Doyle is crooked. He benefited from fraud in 2002. He is going to be able to run on jobs and the economy which are really Bush results. It is totally frustrating.

Our party, unfortunately, needs D crossovers to win. People don't seem to have the big picture when they vote or they don't care or they rebel against the idea of party loyalty (this is what I encounter the most). Just stopping the student fraud may help enough, but I am not sure of that.

Also, from experience, the DC staffers and the city GOP have no idea of what is going on in the rural counties, many of which are Boss Hogg operations where party is secondary. I encountered a couple of real screw ups by DC staffers this cycle that took days to overcome in one case and was never addressed in another (not going to tell stories out of school, but basically these folks are arrogant know-it-alls). Both cost us votes. The GOTV strategy is way too reliant on phone surveys by volunteers and people at the end, when it was vital, were refusing to participate on either end. No one in DC is ever going to listen to some rural volunteer, so it won't change unless one of their own whiz kids comes up with a better plan and maybe not even then.

"Spoiled billionaire heir Mark Dayton in Minnesota."

He's the guy who freaked out about a terror attack on Washington, and fled town? Unstable! There's got to be a history there. Any Minnesotans who can draw a bead on this creep?
