Which Fox News anchors/reporters/pundits/hosts do you think are really, sincerely right-leaning? (VANITY)
We probably all prefer Fox News over CNN, CNBC, the network news shows, etc.
But I was wandering as I was watching the election night coverage and Brit Hume seemed so giddy with excitement when Bush started to pull away - what are the true political leanings of the Fox News staff?
My take:
Bill O'Reilly - Basically a slightly left-leaning Libertarian redeemed by a belief in a vigorous American foreign policy and a sneering content for the MSM
Brit Hume - love the guy....with us 100%, I believe...I LOVED the way he interacted in such an over-the-top way with Susan Estritch on election night basically wiping her face with Kerry's loss....
Fred Barnes - same as Brit, 'red' to the core....but fair and honest in his analysis..
Shep Smith - seems to also take glee in Democratic pain but not so sure....his very patriotic stances make me think he's one of us, though...
Sean Hannity - no issues with Sean....
Morton Kondracke - middle of the road leftie but fair....
Greta Van Susteren - big time left winger if I had to guess...
Juan Williams - leftie....no doubt about it....
What do you all think???
ED Hill is as conservative as they come. Just listen when the topic shifts to guns or taxes?
Conservative Morning Show hosts can give polite warm human interest feel good interviews to Libs. It's about professionalism not ideology. I'be seen her rip into liberals more effectively than the pre-centrist O'Reilly ever did. Definitely hard right.
Greta's husband worked for the Kerry campaign.
A point to note here is that some anchors, we just don't know which political party they lean to. As opposed to other networks, it is so very obvious. We SHOULN'T know where they stand, just be fair and balanced.
My favorite Juan moment(aside from when he gets his weekly beating from Brit on Fox News Sunday) was the end of the GOP convention in 2000. He was going absolutely nuts that the delegates weren't wearing sheets and hoods and hadn't burned a cross right on the podium after Dubya's acceptance speech. Not in those words, of course, but that was what he was implying. It was hillarious.
This was the first Thanksgiving I was "home alone" and David's glowing coverage (the fact that David has a son in the Marines didn't hurt!) allowed me to "give thanks" in a more meaningful way than I have on previous Thanksgivings.
Ironically, I ran into David Asman in a supermarket in New York (Fairway, for those familiar with Upper West Side of Manhattan) a few weeks later and thanked him for his exceptional coverage. He was a gentleman and very gracious and modest (He confided that he is familiar with FR!).
I have attended the live Linda Vester broadast and she is also informed and gracious.
As far as "prime time" Fox News contributors, you cannot beat the triumvurate of Brit Hume, Charles Krauthammer and Michael Barone.
I don't think Fox News's choice of James Rosen and Wendell Goler to cover the Bush campaign served them well. James Rosen is a sarcastic, egocentric, Tad Devine wannabe and Wendell Goler can barely issue a report without lapsing into DNC talking points. But this may be Fox's strategy as Carl Cameron was hardly pro-Kerry, although fair in his coverage.
I recently saw a post-election panel that C-Span covered at the Medill School of Journalism and James Rosen was one of the panelists. He very vocally dismissed the thought that the election presented "a mandate". James, the frustrated metrosexual, probably hadn't had enough time for a manicure and was snippy!
LOL my remote will fail via a dead mute button I am sure.
I don't know what state Shep lives in but you can bet money if they had a ban on gay marriage resolution on the ballot he voted no.
Greta needs to go back to CNN, nuff said.
O'Reilly is great, don't know why so many Freepers don't like him.
ED Hill is a self proclaimed dimocrat. At best I would call her a moderate.
Shepard Smith is a Shepard Smith admirer and it shows and shrill to the point of being muted very often by this ocasional listener.
I'm not so sure about E.D. or Jane Skinner. Jane said something yesterday that made me wonder if she wasn't too thrilled with the election outcome. I think E.D. is fair I just don't think she leans right.
I love Greg Kelly. So please don't tell me if he leans toward the left. Sigh.
I think Steve Doocey is on "our" side but I don't care much for Mike much on the weekends. I liked him at fist but he seemed to change as the election got closer. Of course, his being a Jayhawk fan doesn't help.
Major Garrett was a host on a Conservative show a few years back.........It also had Blanquita(sp) McCollum, Paul Wyrick and a bunch of other righties. Can't think of the name though........ED Hill is Democrat who is more than disappointed with the direction of her party. John Gibson and Brit Hume are my favorites. If they are right-leaning then they certainly have me fooled. I tend to think Brian Kilmead and Steve Doocey are to the right and Neil Cavuto. They might all be left wing fanatics but certainly hide it well.*~*..........Julian Phillips on Fox/Friends weekend is the reason I QUIT watching. I can't stand that guy!
Mara Liaason, I happened to notice, you were absolutely GLOWING the other day in the presence of the other FNC guys,
but your man Kerry had just lost. It made no sense!....
unless... it occurred to me... DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON WITH AN FNC MALE PUNDIT?
HEY! I just found a somewhat complete list...

You are right about Brit,he was about the only person I trusted on any of the so called main stream media, abc, nbc, cbs and cnn. I was elated when he went to Fox.
Juliette Huddy, while she hides it, I think is a Republican. She still wants to be in with the "in" crowd, but has let on that she and her husband go to be EARLY (because of her job) and to me, that sends a sign that it isn't about the parties or the notoriety. Moreover, she seems genuinely concerned about winning the war in Iraq.
Mike (forget his last name, but he's pretty funny), well, I have no clue.
Neil Cavuto: GOP all the way.
The Judge Andrew Napolitano, a civil-libertarian GOP. He is very uncomfortable with the Patriot Act, but not at all uncomfortable with the WOT.
I can't stand Ceci or Ellen Ratner. They make my ears bleed. I have this almost overwhelming urge to flick them in the forehead when they are on. Ugh.
Hey, quit making fun od the Judge. I like him!
I had the same reaction to Estrich. I thought, this chick is either very very mad that the "boys" at FOX weren't accepting the exit polls, or she had been drinking. Estrich was one of the memorable moments of the night. CNN's Judy Woodruff had her moment as well, crying as she insisted that Ohio was still in play because of the provisional ballots.
Brenda Butner(sp?) is a Republican. On her show Bulls & Bears, she had a disgusted look when her panel predicted a win for Kerry.
Yup, I want my anchors to be those I can't tell which way they lean, that means they are being fair and not injecting personal opinions.
O'Reilly started turning us off about 2 years ago when two things happened. He exposed the 9-11 charities that weren't paying up to the families, and he passed Larry King in the ratings. Those two things inflated his ego beyond maximum PSI, and he became a little too self-absorbed. It became "All about the O", and the radio show didn't help. I still watch now and then, when Laura Ingraham or Ann Coulter are going to be on, but otherwise, I skip it.
I have to tell you, I think she had a few drinks prior to coming on the show. She acted differently than I ever saw her before.
