This was the first Thanksgiving I was "home alone" and David's glowing coverage (the fact that David has a son in the Marines didn't hurt!) allowed me to "give thanks" in a more meaningful way than I have on previous Thanksgivings.
Ironically, I ran into David Asman in a supermarket in New York (Fairway, for those familiar with Upper West Side of Manhattan) a few weeks later and thanked him for his exceptional coverage. He was a gentleman and very gracious and modest (He confided that he is familiar with FR!).
I have attended the live Linda Vester broadast and she is also informed and gracious.
As far as "prime time" Fox News contributors, you cannot beat the triumvurate of Brit Hume, Charles Krauthammer and Michael Barone.
I don't think Fox News's choice of James Rosen and Wendell Goler to cover the Bush campaign served them well. James Rosen is a sarcastic, egocentric, Tad Devine wannabe and Wendell Goler can barely issue a report without lapsing into DNC talking points. But this may be Fox's strategy as Carl Cameron was hardly pro-Kerry, although fair in his coverage.
I recently saw a post-election panel that C-Span covered at the Medill School of Journalism and James Rosen was one of the panelists. He very vocally dismissed the thought that the election presented "a mandate". James, the frustrated metrosexual, probably hadn't had enough time for a manicure and was snippy!
My favorite David Asman performance was his Scott Ritter interview.
