US tells civilians to flee Fallujah

American troops in Fallujah have made loudspeaker announcements and handed out leaflets urging civilians to leave the city ahead of an expected assault.

The move comes as troops prepare for a major assault on rebel strongholds in Fallujah and nearby Ramadi.

The soldiers warned they would arrest any man under the age of 45 found trying to leave or enter the city.

Roads around Fallujah have been blocked and the city has been battered by US air strikes in preparation for the offensive.

Hospital officials said air strikes overnight had killed three people and wounded four others, while troops continue to shell insurgents, who have responded with rocket-propelled grenade fire.

Most of the 300,000 population of Fallujah have already fled and US marines say they are awaiting orders from President George W Bush and Ayad Allawi, the Iraqi interim prime minister, before beginning the attack.

Mr Allawi is in Europe to meet EU leaders today and is expected to return with an agreed reconstruction package.

The EU is offering Iraq an £11.5 million aid package to support the country's January elections and the criminal justice system.

Earlier, Mr Allawi met Tony Blair and both men emphasised that the elections must go ahead.

Mr Blair said: "These people that are trying to create circumstances of chaos and instability in Iraq are doing so because of their fear of the democratic process."

Squash the bugs!!!!!

But use airpower to incinerate them first.

American losses must be kept to a minimum.

"This election was wonderful, knowing that 59 million of us are out there, and that we mobilized to save the Republic."

Mike, one of the things Free Republic has given me, now as a member and for the years when I was a daily lurker, was the concrete certainty that I WAS a part of a much larger community of folks who thought and felt as I did. Nothing can hold us back once we finally see the big picture and KNOW how many millions of others, in America AND around the world, are standing with us.

I still haven't gotten over the thrill of President Bush's re-election. I had truly picked up on the magnitude of his support around the country and was overjoyed to see it translated into this great victory. Now......we gotta get out there and kick elitist, socialist liberal butt too.

This confuses me. If they give everyone a chance to get out, doesn't that just give the terrorists a chance to prepare and leave as well?

The amount was in GBP so it's just over $21m. Pretty pathetic really.

Finally.

Waco 'em!

I got this in an email today, I don't know who the author is, but you might enjoy it.

"AMERICA!"

Osama Bin Laden, your time is short;

We'd rather you die, than come to court.

Why are you hiding if it was in God's name?

You're just a punk with a turban; a pathetic shame.

I have a question, about your theory and laws;

"How come you never die for the cause?"

Is it because you're a coward who counts on others?

Well, here in America, we stand by our brothers.

As is usual, you failed in your mission;

If you expected pure chaos, you can keep on wishing

Americans are now focused and stronger than ever;

Your death has become our next endeavor.

What you tried to kill, doesn't live in our walls;

It's not in buildings or shopping malls.

If all of our structures came crashing down;

It would still be there, safe and sound.

Because pride and courage can't be destroyed;

Even if the towers leave a deep void.

We'll band together and fill the holes

We'll bury our dead and bless their souls.

But then our energy will focus on you;

And you'll feel the wrath of the Red, White and Blue.

So slither and hide like a snake in the grass;

Because America's coming to kick your ass!!!

Yes, I think it's Dresden-time for Fallujah. We are giving the good and innocents fair warning to get out before we level the city. These insurgents need to be shown once and for all what happens when you piss off the United States military.

IIRC, I stated six months ago that this would happen as soon as Dubya won the election.

I have marshmallows.

Light the bonfire, folks!

Godspeed and good hunting!
