Break down the map by precinct and you'll find Kerry's area won is significantly smaller still - I'd guess somewhere less than 50,000 square miles.

Pundits & pols are seriously underestimating the urban-vs-rural division.

That's the home of all the Hoover employees and former Hoover employees who permitted their union to price them out of the labor market.

There is the city of Kent and KSU in Portage Co. which might be part of it, though.

KSU = Liberal professors and students = massive fraud. Remove the KSU area, and I'd bet Portage is solid red.

I love these county by county maps. They tell so much that isn't obvious on the surface...

What are Worthington and Westerville like these days? I used to live in Dublin (on Saltergate off of Sawmill Rd) in 1984, and also lived over by Northland Mall off of Karl Rd in 1988. Went to OSU and back then had a very strong Republican presence. South side of C-town was also rather Dem back in the day.

From this point on, I'm an Ohioan, and proud of it.

From a native Ohioan: welcome!

A word of thanks to you, LS; we've shared a bunch of threads this election season, and you have lifted the spirits of many who were ready to give up. Your confidence and dedication were infectious. Thank you!

We kept the faith, fought the fight, and won the victory.

Break down the map by precinct

That's one map I'd LOVE to see.
I know Dubya handedly won DuPage County, IL where I'm at, and I can almost guess where all the Kerry votes were - cloistered areas in towns/villages where there's apartment buildings with Section 8 housing.

This was a great effort! Enjoyed every minute of it. The Cuyahoga Co. Rs deserve special kudos!

I need to find out of the President received more votes in my blue county this time round....

Tux,

Worthington and Westerville are still conservative areas. Worthington especially. Off of Saltergate huh? Right there behind the Kroger eh? ;) Know it well...

South side of town is still a bit more Dem than other areas.

Doesn't sound like much has changed, with the exception of there being about a bazillion more people within 270..

Yep and the Urban vs Suburban division too. Granted more dems are now moving to 'the burbs' but there's still a large divide.

And try as they might, the leftists still cannot force their little social engineering experiments on the people. That's why 'We' fled the decaying, rotten to the core schools, crime ridden, drug infested, corrupt Dem controlled, 'Urban' areas in the first place.

Born and raised in Kirtland OH (Lake County) till I moved to the left coast. I do so love the look on the faces of way-left associates here in Seattle when I tell em how proud I am of the fortitude, insight and intelligence of my "white-bread, readneck, midwest, hick" hometown.

Thanks OHIO (round on both ends and HI in the middle, Heart of it all, Clevelands a Plumb and Skyline Chili--I love it)

If we can break the Dem hold on Summit, Mahoning, etc. {Akron, Youngstown}, Ohio is a walk in the park. The old mob bosses and Dems are starting to lose their hold. They ran one of their daughters, Capri Cafaro, whose family spent over $1,500,00 of their own money; and she lost to LaTourette, Republican incumbent and not all that popular.
The Democratic Mayor of Youngstown came out for Bush. With some work I think we can sway voters to give up the old Traficant and union thinking. These guys haven't helped the area in years.
