The President saw increases in support in 37 counties over his 2000 totals, thanks to Karl Rove, Ken Mehlman, the Ohio GOP, and 86,000 volunteers (including a bunch 'o FReepers!).

The interesting thing is that even if you take away the rural counties, which Bush won overwhelmingly, the race was still very close. The urban centers were balanced out by their suburban counterparts, to within 50,000 votes.

I hate that my county (Summit) is always deep blue...

What I don't get is why Portage county always votes Democrat. It's either suburbs or farms. There is the city of Kent and KSU in Portage Co. which might be part of it, though.

Got a few big hives with concentrated Dimocratic votes, and the broad geographic majority that emphasizes sanity, hard work, and self-reliance - all antithetical to the Dimocratic Party!

Also impressive is suburb vote % greater than rural vote %. The MSM is touting that it is the RURAL areas that won this for GWB.

Yes, it is the county contiguous with the Northeast corner of Montgomery Co. (Dayton). A sizable majority of the Clark County vote went to Bush this time. I say, eat that, Guardian...
