Now that Bush has won re-election with a strong popular mandate and Republicans have strengthened their position in Congress, here is what I'd like to see accomplished over the next four years:
1. Close our borders and deport all illegal aliens. Combine the US Border Patrol and the US Coast Guard into a fifth branch of the US Military for the purpose of homeland defense. Construct a contiguous, militarized, defensive border wall between the US and Mexico. Increase troop patrols on the Canadian border.
2. Prosecute the War in Iraq (and the War on Terror) with decisive and overwhelming firepower, including the razing of resistance strongholds. Stop placing our troops at increased risk in an effort to fight a limited, politically-correct war. Massive retaliatory bombing and shelling strikes for every act of terrorism, particularly the kidnapping and beheading of hostages.
3. Enact an expedited and strict death penalty process for acts of terrorism -- including so-called "eco-terrorism" -- or treason against the United States. (If the US can do it to Timothy McVeigh, they can do it to the rest of the terrorists and traitors.) Dedicate more resources to infiltrating and prosecuting internal terrorist organizations.
4. Appoint -- and fight for the confirmation of -- true CONSERVATIVE, non-activist judges to all the currently vacant federal benches and the SCOTUS.
5. Extensive Tort reform.
6a. Passage of a US Constitutional Amendment declaring marriage to be only between one man and one woman. (We obviously have momentum on this now.)
6b. Include in the Amendment that the government shall not grant any special civil rights to "sexual orientation" including gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, or other sexual dysfunctions.
6c. Include in the Amendment a prohibition on the public funding, subsidizing, or facilitating of any sex-change operations or other "sexual orientation" conversion.
7a. Rewrite of Amendment XV of the US Constitution so that it abolishes ALL government-sanctioned racism (AKA "affirmative action").
7b. Add to the rewrite of Amendment XV that no public or governmental service shall ever be denied to anyone based on race or sex, and that it is illegal to write legal contracts that bind future parties into discrimination. However, affirm that private individuals and businesses have the right to freely associate or not associate with whomever they may choose.
8. Passage of a US Constitutional Amendment declaring English to be the official language of the United States, and that all government business shall be conducted in English only, and that all government publications, forms, and documents are to be published only in English.
9. Abolish the IRS and implement a fair consumption-based tax plan that taxes everyone equally with no deductions, exemptions, or loopholes.
10. Create a privatized retirement account alternative to Social Security.
11. Enact a national nuclear energy program. Drawing from the expertise of the US Navy's nuclear program, design and approve (including EPA approval) a single universal reactor design.
12. Enact strict, mandatory federal penalties for identity theft.
Get rid of Colin-the-Pali-pandered-Powell.
Oh, and do something about Saudi. Quit playing nice.
If we're going to start listing people to fire, let's start with Norm Mineta!
Wish list:
1. Zarqawi and al-Duri caught or killed this year.
2. President Assad of Syria coughs up Saddam's WMD by Christmas.
3. IRS replaced with national sales tax with exemptions for food, children's clothes, health care items and doctor/hospital charges, and rent under certain amount.
4. Foreign worker permit program, with work permits good for three years given to employers who pay reasonable wages that don't undercut American workers with the same skills for jobs that go wanting. All applying for these permits will undergo criminal and terrorist background checks. No one obtaining work permit will be allowed to get in legal immigration line for citizenship ahead of anyone else in line already.
With these workers now crossing at legal entry and exit points, it will diminish the number entering illegally and make it easier for beefed up border patrol and unmanned aerial surveillance and hidden security cameras to spot them.
Also need continued upgrade of computer screening for immigration and border patrol and visa services.
Along with this, increase penalties for those employers and illegal aliens who violate the ground rules of the legal worker permit program.
5. Social security reform...revolutionizing the system for the youth now just entering the system, including considering alternative ways for funding besides payroll taxes, like making the automatic pay part of the system turn into a disability insurance protection plan.
6. Tort reform.
7. Tie increase in minimum wage to deduction for national or private catastrophic health care insurance plan(s) and institution of health savings accounts.
8. Zawahiri and bin Laden caught or killed by end of next year.
9. Give bunker busters to Israel (already sold them an AWAC) and let them take out the Iranian nuclear plant if the mullahs don't wise up quick.
10. Already underway, shifting many troops from Germany to Poland and from DMZ between the Koreas to other jump off points around Japan. One clean hit won't take out all Korea's nukes. This has to be gamed, with diplomatic and military chess moves.
11. Continue to install missile defense system.
12. Kill Osiris. Bring back Corin Nemec.
13. Pass all the energy bill.
14. Appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court.
15. Fund radio free Iran and other "information" to freedom desiring Iranians.
16. Take a long nap now.
1) My business is none of yours.
2) Bureaucrats trespassing on private land get a choice of the death penalty or a one-way ticket to North Korea.
Is it too late to vote for you for Prez? Just one more thing - quite bringing in Muslims to our country and deport those here that are not citizens.
You may be right, but those majorities in HR and Senate are the key. We can (if we work on it) actually get legislation up to Bush to sign. I hope we do not squander this opportunity.
Your good SpyGuy. These are some great wishes.
Here's a few more I forgot:
Completely withdraw the US from the UN and kick that corrupt organization out of our country.
Prosecute all NAMBLA members for criminal conspiracy.
Investigate and prosecute the ACLU for criminal and treasonous activities.
Eliminate welfare for able-bodied individuals. They can take the jobs currently occupied by illegal aliens. (Actually, lower class US citizens -- many of them Caucasian -- are the one who used to do the jobs that illegals now perform. Government welfare -- paying people not to work -- is the reason why we currently have jobs that "no Americans want".)
Revoke the ADA.
Thanks -- I can think of no greater complement!
I agree about immediately canceling ALL immigration quotas for Muslims, and revoking the immigration status and deporting ALL Muslims on visas. We should also investigate ALL Muslim permanent residents for terrorist activities. (Muslim citizens should also be investigated on a case-by-case basis as evidence requires.)
By the way, I've added a few more list items in post #71.
I want a pony.
A right to carry on planes? That is absurd!
All good initiatives..........
I suspect we'll still be wishing 4 years from now.........
When you find people you've never met, but they see much of the world (right and wrong)in the same way, it's reassuring.
Take it easy.
fantastic post.
I would add: push for creative, market-based incentives to continue to clean up and protect the environment.
There is no reason why the environment has to be a Democrat issue.
When we harness the creativity and resources of private enterprise, we can get a lot of things done, and that includes leaving a healthier planet to our children.
Return prayer to public schools. Not mandatory, but remove the prohibition.
Teach true U.S. History in public schools; get rid of the revisionist stuff. Important so next generation understands the sacrifices founding fathers made, and values they had, to appreciate the wonderfulness of America.
I have long wanted to post a FReeper Manifesto (but I have no idea how to start a vanity thread). Perhaps this could be the start of one.
