It does this work exclusively for news organizations. Mitofsky has directed exit polls and quick counts since 1967 for almost 3,000 electoral contests in United States, Mexico, Russia and the Philippines.

....

From 1967 to 1990, Mitofsky was executive director of the CBS News election and survey unit, and was an executive producer of its election night broadcasts. He conducted the first exit polls for CBS in 1967, and developed the projection and analysis system used successfully by CBS and Voter News Service. I've said it many times before, "God bless the internet."

Oh, yeah, and God bless Al Gore for inventing it.

CBS and the Washington Post have had their hands in the exit polling since the 1960s. Something definitely needs to be done about it to keep this from recurring every election.

NO more polling!

Not needed...condescending to voters...prime territory for corruption as this year's polling shows.

He said their 'results' all day reflected a huge Kerry landslide in the making. That directed the news commentary throughout the day.

This issue potentially affects the election.

It should be subject of Justice Department investigation, for attempting to influence the election.

The company doing exit polling is related to VNS, which which screwed up in 2000, and shut down.

I wish that I could believe that having been given the reigns the Republicans will take them up but I can't. Those of us who are upright are frantic at the unwillingness to put things right.

Bump!!

I worked the polls until 9pm..sorry I missed all the FR fun! I can't wait to tell you all what a provisional ballot really is....It is a ballot voted by people who are not eligible to vote. About 10 to 20% at best are valid votes. The envelopes are sealed and reviewed and no one knows how that person voted the ballot until the envelope with the voter information is reviewed and approved. Don't let the MSM & lawyers tell you differently!

Somebody made a lot of money today, selling the stocks they bought yesterday after Drudge torpedoed the market.

Yep. It was a "neener, neener, Kerry's going to win so don't bother voting" ploy.

We've been onto them since the 2000 election when they did this to the Republican districts in Florida. Never again. Republicans are elephants, we have long memories, RATS don't remember and keep making the same insane mistakes over and over again.

They are wedded to their communist ideology and tactics while we are wedded to religion and Jesus Christ. Figure out who will win in the long haul!

No wonder CBS still wasn't willing today to assign Ohio's 20 EV's to Bush. Conflict of interest, much?

Anyone consider that voters vote behind a curtain or in a privacy booth for a reason ?

Why would one tell anyone who they voted for if they don't know the person ? I considered such an invasion of my privacy and if I want to share I will with my friends or family. For a exit-poll weenie to come up and ask or demand what I did was IMO rude and I didn't answer. I know of one or two friends that lied to em just to sabotage their numbers. They and their MSM handlers just don't understand that some folks feel as I do about the exit polling.....phucm !
