Yup, Senator Edwards speaks. SoreLoserman II begins tonight, but I'm not waiting!
Congratulations President Bush!!
It's all over but the crying for the SoreLosermen!!
And now it's time for us to start planning the Free Republic George W. Bush Inaugural Ball II!
I've had Kristinn checking venues and prices and we're in the process of getting a proposal from the Wyndham City Center Hotel in Washington, DC (the other Wyndham that we used last time is already booked).
The costs have more than doubled from our first ball, so we're estimating the price per person will have to be in the neighborhood of $175 per person. We'll also have to move fast on this. We'll need to make a quick decision as soon after the elections results are official as we possibly can and then we'll need to quickly raise the funds to put up the required deposit.
So, here's the question: Are you ready for an Inaugural Ball?
If so, please post here if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party.
Thank you all very much and hope to see you in DC on January 20th!!
By the way, everyone told us last time that the Free Republic Ball was the best one in town and it was half the price or less than all the others. I suspect that this Ball will also be the best in town and at $175 will still be priced less than any other!
Counnt me in!
I won't be able to attend. What a pity!
Sign me up - but I won't need a hotel room. I'll sleep on a park bench like I did 4 years ago.
Many of the hotel rooms were booked by Kerry people. They will cancel soon.
I'm definitely coming this year. Can anyone recommend where to stay in D.C.? Am I better off staying in Crystal City? ANYTHING reasonable?
Advice would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to meeting all of you!
OK. I'll bring the Dixies.
We shall see! ;D
HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here... the Jan 2001 FReeper Ball was an absolute blast! Hope our name tags hold up this time so maybe we can actually figure out who everyone is! ;-)
Har - it almost came to that. I had been up since 7 AM, and a DC cop at Union Station was kind enough to poke me with his nightstick just before the Amtrak train left for NYC a 3:30 AM (he had previously asked me where I was headed - very cool of him).
Very smart! I thought of doing that a few months ago also, then it slipped my mind. Fortuately, we made our reservations the morning after Election Day, so we're all set. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Will you also be going to CPAC in February?
What happens at CPAC, stays at CPAC... ;-)
The Union Station Amtrak stop puts you about 25 blocks from the hotel. Metro's Red line stop at Union Station will take you to the Dupont Circle stop--about four blocks from the hotel--for $1.35. Or you can cab it for about $7 or so.

Everyone, I just got two rooms at the Sheraton Pentagon South in Alexandria, Va. Is this a good catch?? I have never done this before and am nervous about being able to get in to town..also, does anyone think W will visit this one?? And one last thing..should I try to get a limo to take us into town?? I doubt there will be taxis around...let me know...
Thanks for the tip.
LOL!
You mean you really have A PLAN for a gathering of FReepers?
Still have room for one more? Maybe two?
Please add arasina+1 to your would-love-to-attend list!
